Tonight a man wrapped his arm around me and started mansplaining the importance of being a mother. I work with very hard working women, and one admitted that being a mother is much more meaningful to her.
The man took this opportunity to repeat that to me and tell me that "as a single woman focused on school and a career, I just think it's important you hear that". I responded "first how dare you touch me, second I've never been so condescended, and third get bent". No, I said none of that. That's why I'm venting.
It's easy to brush these things off and reduce middle aged white men to being clueless about women/the concept of individualistic priorities, but why should it be so easy for them? I'm put in a position where I'm not able to truly express (OR AM EVEN ASKED FOR) my pov, but I gotta listen to dude talk to me like he's providing me with groundbreaking info on Womanhood™ 101? Lmao nah.
