LVMPD and officials from Southern Nevada law enforcement agencies met with members of the media today to talk about school dismissal and summer safety.
The safety of our children is of
the utmost importance.
Recent violence at schools around the country has prompted some additions to the school dismissal plan. In addition to the officers that will be patrolling around the
schools, teams of officers will also be staged in two locations in the valley with the ability
to be quickly deployed to any unfolding incident.
We'd also like to remind the
community that the concern for the safety of our children does not stop at school dismissal. Numerous programs are available to keep kids busy during the summer months such as the Boys & Girls Club, Community Centers, faith-based summer camps, summer school and the YMCA.
Keeping our kids safe is a joint effort. Parents - be aware of who your kids are hanging out with, meet the parents of those kids, know where your kids are, set curfews and stick to them.
The LVMPD and community partners are here to help. For more information about
available summer programs for kids of all ages, contact LVMPD’s Office of Community
Engagement at 702-828-3309.
