Here's the story behind this inspiring photo of a young man walking to a bus stop to get to his high school graduation.
On Monday, an Alabama MAX bus driver took to Facebook to share a photo of a young man dressed in a cap and gown walking to the bus stop to attend to his graduation. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Turns out, the young man in the photo, Corey Patrick, has been making the same commute to get to school for the past year. The Birmingham teen moved to the West End to live with his mother Felicia White after attending Tarrant City Schools since the fourth grade. However, despite his family not having any means of transportation, he was determined to graduate from Tarrant High School with his friends - so much so that he got up at 4 am each morning to catch public transportation to get there. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"Corey was getting up at 4:30 in the morning and had to be at the bus stop at 5:41 in the morning for the last year. Even when he would get out of school he couldn't get from that side of town until 5:19 when the bus runs back over there. So he doesn't make it back this way until about 6:30 or 7 o'clock," said White.
His graduation day was no different. “I had to do what was necessary for me to walk this year,” Patrick told WBRC. “When I woke up that day I was just happy that today was that day that I was going to walk the stage and get my diploma." ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Patrick’s mom eventually caught a ride and was able to see her son graduate. The photo of Patrick walking to his graduation ceremony has since gone viral for all the right reasons, and now comedian Rickey Smiley has offered to help buy Patrick a car to take off to college. “I thank you all for the support and just know that I appreciate you all,” Patrick said. “It does indeed 'Takes A Village.'" ______________ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It sure does! Congratulations, Corey! Your unwavering determination is an inspiration to us all. Regrann from @becauseofthem - #becauseofthemwecan - #inspiringstories #graduation #inspiration #motivation #blackexcellence #blackboymagic

If you’re like me, you want to see more women at the top. Although more women are in political offices, becoming entrepreneurs and climbing the corporate ladder now, we need more of us moving up and representing us so that issues that affect us can be addressed.
What can we do to change this? We can start by lifting eachother up instead of tearing eachother down. We can start by telling another woman that there is vacancy at the table and preparing her the best we can. We can start by fixing eachother's crown and helping a fellow woman put her stray hair in it's rightful place. We can start by clapping for the women who are at the top and telling them it's well deserved instead of spreading rumours about how they slept their way up there. We can start by being the change we want to see.
I end with Charles Malik's words " The fastest way to change society is to mobilize the women of the world". Mobilize your Daughters, Sisters, Aunties, Mothers, Grandmothers, Friends, Colleagues, and Business Partners.

Here’s a clip from one of my previous livestreams... enjoy!
When people contact you, they’ve already been exposed to you and/or your business directly or indirectly. By the time they contact you, you need to confirm that you are the right person for the job!!!

As women, we often forget to say nice things to ourselves. We are sometimes consumed with being there for everyone else.
Don’t wait for someone to compliment you. Don’t wait for anyone to validate you.
Celebrate yourself today!
Celebrate your Wins!
Celebrate your Strength!

The best reminder from @lisa2motivate. Do not dim your light for anyone, you are created for greatness. If people are uncomfortable with your greatness hand them some shades 😎

Hi there, my name is Lola and I’m a multi- creative entrepreneur.
About 7 years ago, I took my first stab at entrepreneurship as an event planner. I’ve evolved since then... from Fashion Designing to becoming an Author and now a Business Coach. How did it all happen?
Over the course of the years, I tapped into my creative side and chased after my many passion projects (planning events, designing attires for women mixing different fabrics, tie dying silk scarves, bathing suits and pillow covers, selling brooches, making candles, etc).
In my quest to find my balance, I started sharing what I was learning with anyone and everyone who wanted to hear. Being a multi-creative wasn’t very popular and not many people were talking about how to manage it.
The consensus was figure out what you are good at and find your tribe but what if you’re good at many things and you don’t know where to start and if you should make them all work and how you can make them all work and can you make them all work. These are the questions I had and these are the questions many of you have.
If you are a multi- creative, with a head full of ideas, overwhelmed and not knowing where to start, TRUST the process. If your Idea seems far fetched and larger than life, I’m here to tell you it’s not impossible. I did it and now I’m able to incorporate all my passion projects into my current business model, How cool is that?!? 😁
