It's been a while since I ranted and I am so ready for it, here we go:
I have been writing this for a while now and tweaking it, trimming it a lot not to offend anyone or be disrespectful to anyone in our industry, but I had to publish it at one point and get it off my chest. If you don't like it and do not agree with me I respect your opinion and we don't need to convince each other, I get it!
"Barbering" has become stupid, and it's all about being famous for a day or a moment on social media. For instance: shaving with knives, axes, swords or cutting hair with all kinds of crap as I call it, waxing the face, waxing the back of the neck.... and the list goes on and on and on. I know I am old and from a different era but we as barbers have always represented how gentlemen dress, speak, behave, and have served his/her craft with pride, and this business has always been about the experience for our clients........waxing his face and nose hair or shaving him with an axe or putting his hair on fire not to speak about smacking his head does not create an "amazing" experience as we can see in the face of the guy in the chair in all those fake or real videos... I am not against change and never will be, in fact the more variety of barbers and barbershops that are around the better it is for all of us. Final point: If something is doable it doesn't mean it is good to do.........You could use shit to slick hair back for example, but.......The question is: Is this barbering?
