ΛΘΑ Latin Sorority, Inc.  The Divas of Beta Kappa Chapter Est. Spring 1999 at the University of MD: Baltimore County. 🌙🌴🐚 the FIRST and LARGEST Latin Sorority in the Nation!

Happy Lambdaversary to our Founding Sisters! You all have put in so much work for the chapter. We love you all dearly. Thanks for leaving a mark and bringing our amazing organization to UMBC. Thank you for your advice and wisdom and we hope to make you proud! 💕💕💕

What does it mean to be a sister of the Beta Kappa Chapter? It means finding hard working people that are willing to fight for you and your goals. It’s means countless hours of planning with your sisters to create beautifully detailed ideas that encompass everyone’s divine personality. It means finding a shoulder to cry on when you need it most. It means hard work and dedication. It means going the extra mile every single day. It means unlimited support for our community, although we’re tiny. It means that you have found the people that will push you when you feel like giving up. This chapter is more than an organization on the Hilltop. It is a home away from home. They say “home is where the heart is”. This chapter is made up of pieces of hearts from every single sister that is proud to call herself A Diva of Discipline ❤️ Happy Chapterversary to Us but most importantly happy Lambdaversary to our Founding Sisters who paved the way for us to be here today 💕💕💕 and here’s to many more 🎀😘#aBKproduction #BKturns19

As a sorority that prides itself on the principles of unity, love and respect, we stand with immigrant families and continue our call for comprehensive immigration reform. Although President Trump recently signed an executive order calling for an end to separating families at the border, it is a continuation of the administration's zero-tolerance prosecution policy and calls for the construction of new detention centers. The executive order also directs the Attorney General to file a request that would permit Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to detain families for more than 20 days. The order does not address the obstacles to reunite current separated families. We urge sisters to take action to support family unity. Thank you to all the amazing dads, especially those who helped raise and guide our Lambda Ladies. Happy #FathersDay! #LTA1975

In 1966, transgender people were often unwelcomed at gay bars due to transphobia. Compton’s Cafeteria was one of the few places where transgender people could congregate publicly in San Francisco. During this time, cross-dressing was illegal, so police were called to "crack down" on transgender customers who frequented the establishment. In response to police arrests, the transgender community began to picket Compton’s Cafeteria which turned into riots. This was one of the first LGBT-related riots in U.S. history and marked the beginning of transgender activism in San Francisco. #LTA1975 #pridemonth2018

On this day in 2016, we remember the 49 lives that were lost in the Pulse Shooting. It is marked as one of the deadliest acts of violence against LGBTQ+ people in U.S. history. This act of terror shook the city of Orlando, many were injured and so many more had lost loved ones to senseless violence. A majority of those affected were Latinx. Today, we must reflect on how each of us can work to make this world safer. As we move towards a society that does not tolerate hatred based on sexual orientation or gender identity then we move closer to a world filled with less violence. #lta1975 #Pride2018

Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected by the volcano eruption in Guatemala. Please take a moment to check in with any loved ones and make yourself available should someone be in need of emotional support during this difficult time. #FuerzaGuatemala #LTA1975

Today, we celebrate #NationalCancerSurvivorsDay! NCSD is a day for #CancerSurvivors to stand together, #CelebrateLife and show the world that life after a #cancer diagnosis can be meaningful, fulfilling and even inspiring. #NCSD2018 #LTA1975

June kicks off LGBTQ Pride Month, and Lambda Theta Alpha is proud to join in celebrating the victories of the LGBTQ community and continuing to advocate for their equal rights. On June 28, 1969, police raided the Stonewall Inn, a popular gay bar in New York City. Police were known for targeting gay bars during this time, but many people didn't challenge them, until this incident. In the days following the raid, there was a series of riots protesting the raid, which became largely known as the Stonewall Riots, and also the start of the LGBTQ civil rights movement. June is now recognized as LGBTQ Pride Month. #LTA1975 #PrideMonth
