One of the many crabs that inhabitate our coral nursery! -

This one is called Batodaeus urinator, and for some reason there's no much information or photos about it on the internet! -
Just one more of the less-known species from our oceans...

A cushion sea star (Oreaster reticulatus) at our coral nursery!-
-
Did you know they are also called chocolate-chip sea star? I find both names quite funny but so relevant !

Cleaning and checking our coral nursery.
So happy to celebrate that half of our structures are already one year old !! And so proud to see our corals growing so fast! They were only 10cm long when we implanted them one year ago, and now look at them!

The great plastic wave.

I found a treasure today!

And got to photograph it before my camera got flooded...

We are lucky enough to have a big amount of brain corals in our dive sites.
Like other genera of corals, brain corals feed on small drifting animals, and also receive nutrients provided by the algae which live within their tissues. They will extend their tentacles to catch food at night, which is why we don't see them during the day.
Pictured are a couple of Diploria corals.

These couple of pictures are some of my favourites, mainly because of what they mean to me.
I took them several years ago while in the Philippines. I went there to work as the main marine biologist in a coral restoration project.
Unfortunately, many philippine fishermen still used explosives, which causes an intangible damage to the coral reefs.
This makes me sad because we are runing out of marine ressources. Also the underwater world it's just too beautiful to destroy it... So imagine my joy when I discovered this gorgeous soft coral in our dive sites!!! Several years later I still remember this day. -

I hope you like it as much as I do! - - -

Also, what is the most amazing thing you have seen underwater? -

Amazing soft coral and gorgeous @ivana.o.k, what else could you ask for ? -

You all know I only post my own pictures but in this case I had to do an exception, I couldn't resist reposting it ! -

@ivana.o.k 😘😘😘 can't wait for us to work together!

Who else loves soft corals as much as I do ?
-
-
This particular one comes from Cabo Cabron National Park, in the Dominican republic!

Meet Sandro, another one of my students. One I will always remember!
-
We really did enjoy our time in the water. Look at that happy face !!! :) Best reward ever !

I have also been teaching Alejandra how to scuba dive! This is her face the first time she tried it ! :) -

Again, I love my job !

I had a blast teaching little Arnold how to snorkel !!
-
So many first times for him: first time on a boat, first time swimming in the ocean, first time wearing snorkel gear, and the best part, first time seeing tropical fish and colourful corals !! - -
It was a morning for discoveries and he loved it ! But personally, I think I enjoyed it even more! I love my job !! -
-
Also, he came back to the office a few days later to see me again and to learn more about the fish and corals he saw in the water! A true underwater explorer!
