My heart hurts. And it's hard to breath as I lay here thinking about some of the stories of our kids in the Akenna Home.
There's a girl in the home who never smiles... never talks. Today she fell asleep in my arms. Her stomach was bloated, so as she slept in my arms, we lifted her little dress to see if we could tell if the bloating was caused by malnutrition. Beneath her dress, there were twenty something little scars on her stomach. Scars that haunt her little body 2 years later as she lives in our home.
You see... this little girl, at the age of 3... was being cut by her mom all over her stomach. I don't know why... and I will never know what this little girl went through before she came to our home. But I'm thankful to be a part of a family that will stop at nothing to change her life.
Sweet girl. We are family now. We are going to hold your hands into tomorrow... Where He waits for us. #thecollectiveeffect #together
