And that's a wrap! With the P1s taking their last exam today, #LLUSP's last Finals Week of the year officially comes to an end. "What a surreal moment in time, finishing up my first year in pharmacy school," shares Class of 2020 Social Vice President Meline Galstyan. "It's been tough, but most of all, rewarding. I couldn't have done it without my awesome LLU pharmily!" Whether you're out for vacation, or returning back on campus for IPPE rotations or research, we wish you all a fun and safe summer break!

It may have been the week before finals, but the #LLUSP Intramural Soccer Team still marched onto the Drayson Field last Tuesday and left it as tournament champions! Congrats to our students for taking home the Big Win!

We’re nearing the homestretch of Spring Quarter, which means banquet season is in full swing for our professional organizations. Last Monday, May 15th, the #LLUSP ASHP/CSHP student chapters celebrated the year’s achievements and formally installed their new board officers for the next year. The evening also featured a round table where several pharmacists from various health-system professions were on hand to impart insight on the many different fields available to explore within hospitals. Shares 2016-17 ISHP Liaison Franky Yan (Class of 2019), “My experience with LLU ASHP-CSHP provided me with invaluable personal and professional growth as I had the opportunity to bond with my peers, network with pharmacists, and learn more about the pharmacy profession. The banquet was a great way for us as a group to top off this past year and celebrate our chapters’ contributions and success.” Visit our Facebook page to view more event photos!

Last Wednesday, May 10th, over 1,500 kids flooded the Loma Linda University campus lawn for the 32nd annual Children’s Day. Focused on giving children and their parents insight into a wide variety of health care areas, this free event brought together over 200 volunteers from the community and #LLUHealth, including our #LLUSP student groups, RxAbuse and GenerationRx, whose overarching objectives are to educate and help reduce prescription drug abuse and misuse in people of all ages. “It was fun to play with the kids while teaching them that medication can look very similar to candy, and that they should not take anything without knowing where it came from and checking with an adult first,” says Class of 2018’s Briseyda Sequeira. “All of the children were so adorable, and I was glad I had the opportunity to interact with them and their parents during the event.” #APhA #outreach #publichealth #medsafety

LLU School of Pharmacy’s #CPhA and #CSHP chapters collaborated last night to host the biggest round table event of the year. Held at the Vellano Country Club in Chino Hills, this student-organized Silent Auction & Round Table event brought together thought leaders from GLAPhA, OCPhA, OCSHP, SGVPhA, and #LLUSP. Not only were our students afforded a fun and unique opportunity to network, but also gain invaluable insight from these pharmacist mentors. Shares ASHP/CSHP President Carina Deck, "For me, the most rewarding part of the event was seeing so many sharply dressed students approaching the pharmacists with such professionalism and creating opportunities for themselves." #studentleaders #networking

Sixty pharmacy students took time out of their studying last night to participate and cheer on their classmates during the annual Pharmacy Student Network (PSN) Dodgeball Tournament. Held every year at the Drayson Center, the tourney allows classes to duke it out amongst each other in this fun and friendly #LLUSP tradition. Congrats to the winning team from the Class of 2019 for taking home the trophy! #studentlife

The Grand Opening of LLU School of Pharmacy’s first fully-owned and operated community pharmacy was celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony and reception on April 14. As part of the LLU Health - San Bernardino health system complex, this pharmacy provides yet another healthcare service that blends clinical practice with academic training to serve local community members.

Every Spring Quarter, LLU School of Pharmacy holds its annual Honors & Awards Ceremony. Bringing together all students, faculty, staff, and also preceptors, the event is an opportunity for everyone at #LLUSP to recognize the achievements of classmates and influential educators. While many awards are generously sponsored by corporations and professional organizations, a large number are also voted by and given to fellow students. One such Leadership Award was bestowed upon Seung Song by his peers in Rho Chi-Gamma Rho. Said president Vahan Dinkchian of Seung, “I don't think any of my classmates would disagree when I say this man has the purest heart of all. He always goes out of his way to help other people. As a class, we are so grateful to have a classmate like him, and as his friend, I am blessed to know him." #scholars #studentsuccesses #studentleaders #rhochi

Congratulations to Kristopher Boyle, PhD, LLU School of Pharmacy assistant professor (3rd from left), and Eileen Brantley, PhD, LLU School of Medicine assistant professor (2nd from left), for winning a GRASP award for their study, “AhR agonist analogs as novel agents to treat refractory breast cancer”. The focus of these LLU Health Grants for Research and School Partnerships is on funding collaborative projects not only across campus and across entities, but globally as well with the addition of a new category for co-principal investigators from an international SDA hospital, medical center, college, or university.
