Writer’s Black [A Tablespoon of Dictionary] & Writer’s Black [Pastels]:
One English dictionary burned in the absence of air to create charcoal. The charcoal has subsequently been ground to create a powdered pigment which is used to produce pastels to draw and write with. Working prototypes.

Death of a Pencil:
One pencil records its own demise across a pad of standard airmail paper. In keeping with the Victorian tradition of ‘edging in black’ all written correspondence during periods of mourning, the graphite border diminishes until it vanishes altogether.

[PDFs allow text, image, sound and movement to be conveyed in new forms through time and space. How can that digital page in turn be turned back in on itself and explored spatially, sculpturally and temporally? Some initial tests.]

[Does the form of page inform how we perceive? Does how we write affect how we think? When we write in lines, do we think in lines? How can a page be explored spatially? How can writing be explored as something spatial?]

Portable Document: Thinkings & Makings. A small round up of things thought about and things made during my residency @oldbankstudios. The work is mainly concerned with the philosophical agency of paper, focussing in part around the symbol of the PDF and the themes it encapsulates. More pictures soon. First sleeeeeep... #portabledocument #portabledocuments #portabledocumentformat #pdf #oldbankstudios

A Heap of Dictionary [Burned in the Absence of Air]. Five years since I last updated my website. Embarrassed - but on the plus side, putting up some new images of old projects revisited (like this one) and work-in-progress that haven’t seen the light of day. It’s good to get organised, though do certainly ultimately need to build a whole new site that’s more mobile and updateable and just, well, modern.
