I have a love/hate relationship with this old trope.
People love to dish out the advice #beyourself and they always make it sound so positive and empowering. And I get that. But like most things that should feel good, (trampolines, a hot coffee, the plastic wrap that my online shopping products arrive in) perhaps it should come with a warning label. Sometimes being yourself is scary and feels awful. It can lead to rejection, ridicule and all sorts of not nice stuff. So my message to you dear ones (and to myself) is please keep trying. I'm not sure on the specifics of everyone's path and purpose in life, but I am sure that the most important vehicle of getting you there is to keep being as yourself as you possibly can. Even (and maybe especially) on the days that it hurts to do so. 💖 #ibelieveinyou #therealyou thank you to those that see me for who I really am, and who love me for it. And thank you to those who have decided that the real me is not something that serves their experience. You're ok too, but please gtfo. #whodrewthis
