Day 6 of #yogaliciousfeeling and it’s any reclined pose and I can’t think of any better pose for a Monday 😂

I’ve picked #savasana with raised legs using my @feetup and this makes me feel seriously good.
I carry a lot of tension in my back, something which I’ve suffered from for the past few years, which I strongly believe is down to how I am seated at my desk all day, hunching over my computer. And if I’m not mindful of how I am moving in my practise, I can aggravate the pain in my lower back even further. That means even though I might be able to do a certain pose, I need to understand where it’s beneficial not to.
So for me, this variation is a lovely way of realigning my spine into a neutral position.

I love twists! Apart from the beautiful stretch across your back, shoulders, chest and all the great work they do for your digestion, I love the fact you can build a twist almost into any pose. So that’s what I did here!

Day 3 of #yogaliciousfeeling and it’s any #hipopener
I really enjoy compass pose, although it requires a high level of flexibility in the hips. The first time I ever learnt this pose was in a beautiful class taught by @suzanaltay_learnyogalondon

She encouraged me to try something that I would never have dared to by myself, in a safe environment. As much as I love my home practise and getting to classes aren’t always possible, I believe nothing will ever replace being guided by the physical presence of a teacher. Welcome to day 2 of #yogaliciousfeeling and it’s any backbend. I am just going to say it, and I’ve said it for as long as I’ve practised yoga, backbends do not give me the good feels. I suffer from bad back pain, and extremely inflexible shoulders.
That being said I try to give my spine the love and attention it deserves, as part of my practise. I also practise Pilates, for one of the aims of strengthening my core, which of course is inclusive of the muscles in your back.
Out of all the spinal asanas cat/cow is probably my favourite. It’s not complicated but it FEELS good and it’s in every single one of my practises and the classes I teach.
But I posted this picture to show that with ALOT of warming up and constant practise even I can still safely practise deeper back bends.

One of the reasons I love this challenge, and something I tell my students at the beginning of every class.... move in a way that feels right for your body. It’s not about what the person on the next mat (or in this instance, the next page) is doing. I’ll probably never be able to move into a deep forearm wheel with split legs. But that’s fine.
If your goal is to advance your practise both physically and mentally, then fantastic. If you feel that happening at the cost of your health and well-being then you may need to readjust your goals.

Day 1 of #yogaliciousfeeling is any arm balance and I’ve gone with #parsvabakasana
Is it weird that I prefer it to traditional #bakasana? I think I really just have a complex about the traditional variation of #crow 😂

I love where you can take this arm balance. So if you are just starting to play around with a side crow, you modify the pose, using both arms to create a “shelf” to support your lower torso, much like you would in a traditional crow.
I am working on extending my legs into a full extension of side crow, and if you just happen to fall out of it, you can definitely style it out by practising your #fallenangel
Whilst it’s definitely not my favourite arm balance, it’s a goodun! What arm balance makes you feel good? (A year ago, I would’ve said none, and that’s definitely ok too 😂) Check in with my gorgeous hosts for their variations 🔸
