✧ Golden Glow ✧

Greetings friends! Kind thanks for the warm welcome back on my last post. Exactly a year ago I embarked on one of the most incredible journeys of my life fulfilling a dream to drive from Phoenix, Arizona up the west coast to British Columbia, Canada- my longest and farthest solo drive to date. I journeyed for 67 days and ultimately drove 7,700 miles / 12,400 kilometers! There were only a few places I returned to more than once during that period including Mount Rainer and Olympic National Park - both in gorgeous Washington state. This image from La Push beach on the Olympic peninsula was captured during my second visit returning a month after the first. I couldn’t stay away as it is a truly a magical and peaceful place! On that late August evening with hardly anyone else in sight I watched as the sun set below the horizon with its golden glow shimmering on the sand and water… I hope you enjoy this sweet moment and wishing you all a fantastic week ahead!

Greetings Dear Friends!

Days become weeks… Weeks turn into months… Seasons have changed a couple of times and I have been mostly absent here on Instagram apart from an occasional story… I never thought I would be ‘gone’ from my own gallery for this long. Lately when I consider posting a photograph, I also think about what I will write after so much time has passed. I also feel badly for all of your posts I have missed this year… I must admit that I have selfishly withdrawn and for reasons I am still trying to come to terms with. In spite of those battles within, I have decided it is time to return. I miss you! I miss the window into all of your worlds! I miss your IG friendships from around the globe! Furthermore, it is important that I continue sharing my creativity, perspective and countless blessings I have received both near and far. As I write this caption, I am also thinking about the image that will accompany it… shall we return to Alberta, Canada or visit last summer’s west coast road trip? Adventure to Hawaii or maybe journey to Denmark? Or perhaps hang out in my garden or hike in the desert where I live in Arizona? I have so many moments in life that have filled me with joy and it’s time I start giving again. I appreciate all who have continued to follow me during this silent period. I look forward to visiting each of your galleries and catching up as best as I can over the coming weeks!

Kind Regards,
Marcelle

new year greetings dear friends! my first post of 2018 brings us to incredible mount rainier national park on july 25th of my 2017 summer road trip. this vibrant butterfly perched on a lupine was captured precisely at the brisk hour of 6 in the morning just after i watched as the sun rose from behind me casting light on the meadow with the active volcano (also the highest mountain in washington state) in the not so far distance. although my summer road trip lasted 67 days, only on this and one other did i awake while it was still dark to experience sunrise unlike any other i can recall in my lifetime... and both were in the sub-alpine meadow of majestic mount rainier. such a special place forever etched in my heart and mind! wishing you all a fantastic week ahead!

weekend greetings! taking a short detour from the summer road trip to return to my first visit to hawaii last june. just before this sunset was captured i stopped to eat sushi at what i heard was one of the best spots on the island of kauai. i sat at the bar beside two friendly local ladies who ended up passing me all the sushi they couldn't eat! what a treat... i asked where a good place was to watch the sunset and without hesitation they not only told me where to go, but suggested i follow them over there. with a limited amount of time before the sun would set, we quickly finished up and headed to the pier eventually running to catch the last moments of daylight. it turned out to be the best sunset of my entire trip! i left my tripod in the car, but decided to go back for it in order to shoot a long exposure and so glad i did as i like how the clouds look reflecting in the water. hope you all enjoy this special moment from 2017!
.
never waste any amount of time doing anything important when there is a sunset outside that you should be sitting under!

2017 august 31... almost two months into my journey and back in oregon with my compass pointing south. unlike most of my posts, this image is completely unedited! walking back to my car from devil's punchbowl state park (an amazing rocky and dangerous coastal attraction), i paused along the path to admire these flowers and shoot some macros with my dslr. the background colors especially caught my eye and i captured many frames, but this particular one felt most ethereal and full of emotion. i'm so glad to share another special moment from my summer road trip and hope you are all enjoying glimpses into one of the most incredible adventures of my life!

without a doubt, time spent camping and exploring on the olympic peninsula of washington state is a top highlight of my summer road trip. it has been a dream for many years to visit this area and now has finally come to fruition! the very special place you see pictured in this image is la push second beach. this was the only instance of my entire journey when i gathered a few possessions into a backpack then hiked down through the woods to camp on a beach overnight!
.

arriving just in time to watch as the sun set and crescent moon rose over the sea stack sublimely reflected in the tide pools... time stood still on that peaceful late july eve... falling asleep to the ocean's melodic waves... waking up to the subtle pink sunrise observed from the tent with no camera, no snapshots, no moments 'captured' - except those to always remain a sweet memory ♡

dear friends, i’ve missed you! it is difficult to know where to begin in both image and words, after so many months have passed… it has definitely been a longer pause from posting to my gallery than initially expected and the longest break since i joined instagram. an unexpected life event of being laid off after having working for the same company the past 12 years presented the opportunity to take to the road and travel this summer thus fulfilling a dream to drive from the southwestern state of arizona up the west coast to british columbia, canada- my longest and farthest solo drive ever... i journeyed for 67 days, camped 27 of those nights and ultimately drove 7,700 miles / 12,400 kilometers! it was an incredible time spent in nature- alone and also with wonderful friends and family. 'twas an adventure that will certainly remain with me the rest of my life and i’m excited to finally start sharing some of those special moments with all of you. i do realize i have missed most of your posts lately and will be doing my best to visit each of your galleries soon!

on the first week of my adventure and having quickly arrived in northern california, i passed an eye-catching patch of redwoods so decided to turn around, park on the side of the road and hike down a small hill to explore further. there was not another soul in sight and spent serene moments listening to a peaceful stream flowing while gazing upwards to the sun shining through the trees illuminating my heart and soul. i truly hope you also enjoy that moment partially encapsulated in this image!

greetings dear friends! i have just embarked on my longest drive ever journeying from the desert of arizona up through california, oregon, washington and ultimately canada! i am excited for the experiences the coming weeks will bring and look forward to visiting friends and family while also forming new friendships along my way... longing for chilly climates, the scent of pine trees, starry skies, cloud filled days and ocean nights! side-note: this image was captured during my last adventure in canada driving from jasper to banff. views from the open road never get old!

happy july dear friends! it has been heating up in the sonoran desert with temperatures reaching 120°F/48°C! this iphone capture is from a sunset hike at my favorite spot close to home. there is something truly special about a landscape comprising layers of mountain, open sky and clouds above with the blazing sun kissing the horizon in between... wishing you all a fantastic week ahead!

greetings dear friends! i recently returned from my first visit to hawaii spending almost a week on the incredibly captivating island of kauai. the main purpose for the trip was my younger brother was married there. it was a beautiful traditional hawaiian ceremony and i wish him and his wife a long life of joy together! following all the festivities i spent a couple of days solo exploring the north shore where this iphone shot was captured. i hiked barefoot through mud to get down to this coastal area having a famous tidepool called the queen's bath then spent an entire afternoon there. the blues of hawaii are unlike any i have ever experienced before and hope to return there again for more island adventures!
.

the word 'aloha' in hawaiian means love, affection, peace, sympathy, pity, kindness, mercy and compassion. all qualities of being to strive for although not always so easy to accomplish... 'aloha' also means both hello and goodbye!

happy june dear friends! this capture is from the second of three consecutive sunrises i was fortunate to experience in canada this past april. it was another freezing morning that proved to be well worth the effort of rising early... hope your week is off to a great start and since it feels like it been a while i also want to express my heartfelt thanks for all your continued support and kindness!
