I wonder just how many people out there are letting what other people think impact and influence the way they live their lives.

There are a ton of reasons why this is detrimental to your well-being:
.
1) You can never really get to know yourself if you are always doing things for other people
2) You allow other people’s insecurities keep you from growing into the person you were meant to be
3) It keeps you playing it small - always
4) You can’t impact others’ lives the way you were meant to because you’re too concerned about yourself
5) The chances of you reaching your goals and pushing outside of your comfort zone is slim to none
.
Don’t let what others think keep you from reaching your goals, being yourself and doing what you want to do with this life you’ve been given. Be inspired, embrace your quirks and find what lights you up.

The moment you decide to live for yourself is the moment you are finally free from carrying the burden of other people’s baggage. It sure sounds nice, doesn’t it?

No one ever shows there rest days, so here is mine. After work, the living room floor and Netflix. I didn't sleep well last night and I can barely move so here's to be lazy AF in the middle of the week.

When it comes to seeing results, sometimes less is more. Your body NEEDS rest. In fact, it requires it in order for your muscles to repair and build efficiently.
.
Don't fall into the thinking trap of doing more = more results. Yes, it is true that at first you may see the results you are looking for. Overtime however, you will plateau if you start to over do it. I recommend starting out with 3-4 days/week. Work your way up to 5-6 days/week with 1-2 lighter days worked in.
.
On my rest days, I rest. I don't do any heavy lifts and I don't run 5 miles. I let my body do what it has to do so I can show up for my next session feeling fresh and ready to kill it.

I was literally dying during my workout today. My legs felt like they were doing to give out and for some reason my energy level was feeling pretty low.
.
I couldn't even pretend to look like I wasn't hurting in this picture 😂 The workout I did today was:
.
400m run followed by 3 rounds of:
5 burpee pull-ups
10 V-ups
20 Alternating KB swings
Then finish it off with another 400m run.

Before baby: 156 lbs, inflamed, anxious, eating poorly/hardly eating, relatively active, fatigued, barely sleeping and uncomfortable in my skin.
.
Post baby: 156 lbs, stronger than I have ever been, eating WAY more, energetic, extremely happy and optimistic, active and very healthy.
.
Before baby I felt bad "cheating" or eating poorly. I honestly thought that the food I was eating at the time was helping me lose weight when it was really causing inflammation, gut issues and anxiety. I was carb-loading ALL of the time because that is what was taught to me. I also drank, consumed a ton of sugar and avoided lifting weights or doing any form of activity besides running.
.
Post baby I strive to get stronger. I rarely go run. I am mentally, emotionally and physically more capable than I have ever been in my entire life. I eat intuitively and let myself indulge more than I should. My gut issues are gone. I have zero anxiety and am happier and more confident in myself than ever.
.
Remember that if you think you've "tried it all", I thought that to. I thought that I was doing everything right and turns out I wasn't. Keep learning and experimenting. Keep reading, studying and trying out new things. Don't hesitate to ask someone for help! Most of all, be patient and consistent. It will pay off.

"Argue for your limitations and you get to keep them"

Do you ever wonder why you are so quick to defend your weaknesses, but not your strengths? People tend go above and beyond to immediately tell you why they CAN'T do something as opposed to why then CAN.
.
This is a thinking trap. Stop arguing to yourself and others about how you can't, you don't have enough time, you aren't good enough, you aren't strong enough, or any other BS you come up with.
.
I used to do this ALL of the time. I would try and convince people (and myself) why I can not do something. How stupid is that, actually? Honestly, it gets boring and stems from insecurity.
.
This is your wake up call to start defending your strengths. Fight for them. Find anything within yourself that you can pull from to give you the courage to do something you're scared of. Push yourself to your limits so you grow and conquer. You, after all, should be your number one fan.

When you become a parent, you want your kids to thrive. You do your best to set them up for success because one day you won't be there to catch them when they fall.

I have failed MANY times, and I'm definitely not done. The important thing is to let them know it's OK to fail. It's okay to be imperfect and make mistakes because that is how they learn.
.
Strength and perseverance are often traits that people who 'fail forward' learn over time. All you can do is hope your kids learn it to.

Strict shoulder presses for the win 🎉💪🏼

I remember a time in University when I was playing on the volleyball team where we had to get tested for push-ups.
"Fuck..." I thought. "I can't even do one!" And I was totally right. I couldn't even let myself halfway down without my arms collapsing.
.

In my defence, I am tall and lean. It's not very easy for my body to gain muscle, especially when I was younger and completely unaware of what to eat and how to train.
.

That being said, I started to resent any upper body movements because I found them difficult AF 🙄. Not really the right attitude but hey, I was young.
.

Now every time I walk into the gym, I see upper body workouts as a challenge I want to take head on. The only way you can make gains is to put in the work and start building on your weaknesses until they are your strengths. .
I can do push-ups now (btw) ☺️

I believe that your breakfast should be a well rounded meal. It should include a balanced number of proteins, carbs and fats so that it gives you plenty of energy and fills you up longer.

I personally eat whole eggs because #fatisgood. I usually have 3 per morning depending on how hungry I am.
.

2 rice cakes with a little bit of cashew butter and unsweetened jam. I buy jam with ZERO added sugar because fruit is sweet people, why add more sugar?
.

Also for those who don't drink caffeine, peppermint tea is my favourite substitute because it tastes amazing without any added dairy or sweetener.

After a summer filled with several highs, some lows and lots of changes, I am SO happy to be exactly where I am right now.
.
A word of advice for those who might be experiencing stressful changes in there lives or going through a difficult time: Do NOT stop investing time in yourself and your personal growth whether that be training, eating, meditating, reading... whatever it looks like for you.
.
One thing that always brings me back around is prioritizing training and eating well. I've never been stronger, faster or more physically capable of things than I am right now.
.
If you're experiencing hardships, take care of YOU. You'll come out of it stronger and happier than you were before. Practice your ability to persevere and your readiness to bounce back. You'll thank yourself later!
