Today was a rough one. Around five o’clock I thought about calling it a day, skipping class, and going home. But lately school has been the most positive influence in my life. So I decided to persevere through it and my instincts were right about this one.
The topic was Addiction (drugs and alcohol).
My professor spent the entire lecture discussing our need for strong social bonds.
My take away:
Instead of punishing and shaming one another for actions labeled socially unacceptable, we should be embracing one another, for we are social creatures who do our best and thrive when we have strong emotional ties.
A person with nothing to lose walks down a self destructive road. But a person who fears losing everything they value most in the world, that’s the person who will defy all odds and make positive changes that will empower their life.
If there is someone you care about who is struggling with addiction, a mental illness, or just the uncontrollable ups and downs in life, let them know you are here for them, that you love them, that you empathize with them, and that you’re willing to take this journey, together 💜 #PracticingMindfulness #Views #StayInSchool #BeKindToOneAnother #EncourageOneAnother #LoveOneAnother #Empathy
