Goodbye Summer, sincerely a sensitive summer ting.

My sophomore year in college, my roommate bought me one of my favorite jewelry pieces, a Sankofa bracelet from Africa. The literal translation of the word and the symbol is “it is not taboo to fetch what is at risk of being left behind.” The word is derived from the words: SAN (return), KO (go), FA (look, seek and take). The symbol is based on a mythical bird with its feet firmly planted forward with its head turned backwards. There’s wisdom in learning from the past which ensures a strong future.

Because sometimes we need reminders. 👑

New episode of #2shotsandtalk is out now! Listen as I fan girl over @loveisown and talk about how solely falling in love with someone’s perceived “potential” can be dangerous for relationships !

Over the last few days— mentally I’ve been listless and creatively I’ve been blocked. However, between Yah, the Universe, and meditation I am finding my way back. 👑💜

Someone asked why I felt it was necessary to wear a shirt that read, “Trust Black Women”.... My response— Why do we have to repeat the statement “Black Lives Matter”, why did a 7 y.o black girl have to create “Flexing my Complexion”, why did we coin the term “Black Girl Magic”, or why do we hit the streets with signs that read “Protect Him” or “Hands up don’t shoot”, and “ Say her name”... because some motha-f+^%^ just don’t get it.

DESCENDENT OF THE FITTEST 🙌🏾👑 @mumufresh I’ve watched this Tiny Desk Performance way to many times— chills.
