Every country has their own culture and history as well as Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan is very old, historically and culturally rich place. For example their traditional costumes. They are just amazing! So Let me speak about them in detail;
1-2 pic: 'Arakhchin' is a small head accessory for men and women. It has beautifully embroidered with colorful floral details. Usually azeri motifs has inspired from the nature like plants and animals. Arakhchis is one of them.
3-4 pic: 'Khalat' is the typical kaftan in Azeri version. Original 'khalat' has embroidered with colorful silk threads. It can be in different colors.
Next to it on 4th picture you can see black khalat. It's the typical Caucasian sign. On the two side of the breast it has a room for bullets to store them there. In old centuries there was a lots of war so Azeri men's always needed something comfortable and practical wearing that they also can use them in the war. They have created them.
Only the edges can be embroidered with gold threads. On two sides has slits that makes easy to move. It's a bit shorter than normal 'khalat'. It fastens with the belt and underneath they wear a tunic, trousers and high-knee length skinny leather boots. As a head accessory they wear ship skinned hat that called in Azeri language 'papaq'. It looks like arachchin but a bit diffrent. Usually the color of papaq is black. It's the traditional meanswear.
Side not: Papaq, mustache and sword was sign of strong masculinity until the 18th-19th century. Still some of elder people keeps this tradition. And even you can see them in the street without taking off their papaqs.
