For tomorrow’s Yogi’s Choice I wanted to share a very short and sweet warm up and handstand practice that you can do every single day and it literally takes 5 minutes.
I haven’t been practicing daily until this challenge and I could sure feel it, but I’m as motivated as ever to keep this up, everydamnday! I hope you all are too!
I NEVER do a handstand practice without a wrist warm up...it’s essential, so even if you’re gonna pop up into a quick handstand for a pic outside somewhere, always at least warm up your wrist/forearms.
I shared a bit of hamstring and shoulder stretches in there too, and then it’s my favorite drill to fire up the core before handstanding:
It’s soooo good! Once I can activate the stabilizing muscles necessary to find stability in fire hydrant (I know, ridiculous name, right🤣) then those same muscles will keep me stable upside down.
Next is a one minute wall hold. While holding, you can work on pushing the ground away with every ounce of your being. Find length in your shoulders, there’s more than you think!
You can work on weight distribution in your hands/fingers. You can engage the legs and the core. All of it helps!
And if you face the wall like I did here, you run the risk of running out of energy to walk back out, so remember this side exit. It’s like a cartwheel, or just a side slide/slither and it may save you sometime...☺️
Thank you so much to all of you incredible #ResolutionHandstanders! You all inspire on the daily!
