Wow. Words can hardly describe everything that has happened over in Papua New Guinea so far. The beauty of this county and the people within it, is incredible. My heart has officially exploded with all the love and joy they have given me.
This week my team and I went to 9 different villages in the region of Abau. We saw 543 patients, immunized 305 babies (605 children over-all were immunized), helped 43 with family planning, and 39 antenatal check-ups were completed. These numbers help to show you guys the amount of people we were able to reach and help, but behind every number is a face, is a smile, is pain, is triumph, and is a story. These people are the most generous people I have ever met, and even when they do not have much (compared to some standards), they have this joy and contentment, that isn't based upon their circumstances. Papua New Guinea, in just one week, you have taught me to love deeper, to laugh louder, and to sing until my voice gets sore.

Officially sent off! First stop, Cairns Airport 🙌🏼 Then off to catch a plane to Port Morsby, then to Alotau, where the medical ship is docked! The nerves are fading + excitement is kicked in! So excited to live on the ship for a month with 150 other volunteers (with my amazing team from the base in Townsville) and medical professionals from around the world. Then, afterwards, we are able to actually live in the villages among the people we are reaching for a few weeks 😊 (also pretty happy that I was able to sneak one last Maccas brekky in before leaving Australia 😝) #thankful

So thankful that I got to celebrate thanksgiving across the globe with my fellow Canadian friends 🇨🇦🍁felt like I was home for a day😊 love you guys!

1st Australian bday! #21

Saying goodbye to the base for two weeks, as my team and I head out to Mossman to help/serve the indigenous communities + schools there!

“The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything”. Thoughts for today:
I don’t want to look back at the end of my life, + realize that all I did was live for myself. And that I didn’t stand up for what I believe in. Or... that I stood on the side lines, ignoring those who are rejected, sad, lonely, + forgotten. If not now, when? Being away from everything back home has been challenging, but it’s also been so good to refocus what I want my life to look like. I am so sick of living life a life that is so self-focused + materialistic. I find that I am truly experiencing the fullness of life when I am pouring the love that has been given to me, onto others.
I am so excited to begin my outreach to the indigenous communities (+ soon PNG) this week, to help the people there. However, I’m realizing more + more, that I don’t have to wait for some big mission trip for me to love + make a difference in other people’s lives ... it’s an everyday opportunity that you must actively seek.
