I took this photograph August 2015, in Crow Agency, Montana. The teepee capital of the world. Perched up on a hill with two Crows I had met earlier that day, we sat and watched a meteor shower. Lights from the cars in the forest behind us illuminated and cast shadows on the teepee. I will never forget this moment. Only a week after this photograph was taken I came to Santa Fe, New Mexico with barely any money, just an optimistic nomad wanting to see what the Indian Market was like. I had spent the entire summer traveling the powwow trail, photographing dancers and reconnecting with my tribes ceremony and lodge. Summer 2015 changed my life. I gave up a life of comfort to seek the truth about my heritage and create photographs I had connection to.
Fast forward two years later and I am now preparing for my own booth at the Santa Fe Indian Market. Words cannot express how honored I am that I was even accepted to showcase my work along side other amazingly talented Native American artists.
