Top of our wishlist right now is an aquamarine ring - like the one that Meghan has been wearing recently which once belonged to Princess Diana. Here are a few stunning examples LAPADA members @berganzalondon (first two) and McKenna & Co. Jewels (last three). This delightful original Soviet poster from 1981 is Object #11 in our Countdown to Christmas. The children and animals in this festive scene are actually surrounding a traditional New Year tree, which has a long history in Russia. The practice seems to originate in the 17th century when Peter the Great changed the date of the new year from September 1st to January 1st and declared that fir, pine and juniper should be used as decorations for the celebration. By the 19th century, however, the decoration of trees had become associated with Christmas. When Soviet anti-religious legislation was introduced in the early 20th century, Christmas trees were prohibited and the New Year tree supplanted this tradition. New Year Trees are still popular in Russia today. This poster is available from #funfact #soviethistory #newyeartree #christmastraditions #vintageposter

For Day 10 of our Christmas Countdown, we are sharing this rare set of 18th century tennis engravings. The 9 engravings are images of real tennis rackets, how they were made and tools that were used. They also include details of the court and one image of billiards. The engravings are from the ‘Encyclopedia’ by Denis Diderot and would originally have been part of a larger book with different trades and tools. From c. 1780 and in excellent condition. Available on from @manfredschottenantiques #tennis #interiordesign #printset #antiqueprint #engraving

This small James II spring table clock, veneered in red tortoise shell, is object #7 in our Christmas countdown.
