Energized and excited to jump in just a few hours at Paralympic National Championships. With all that has happened this year, I realized I got EXACTLY what I set out for even before my accident and losing my income. After being hit on the side in a construction zone and thinking I might die while my car was spinning out of control; I never even considered what the rest of the year could look like for me. After the driver claimed fault and realized I wasn't dead, he left. But this post isn't about him it's about ME. 💁🏻I got my National Team A Standard which more importantly now covers medical insurance as well as helps with funding and travel for the rest of the year. (Consequently not only did it break my previous AR but also that of Cuba and Brasil who previously held the America's Record... also would have won a medal in Rio but I digress....) When you are a cancer survivor it's pretty important to have insurance; and then you realize your Colorado Medicaid doesn't work well for car accident drama when you live and train in Arizona. 2017 has been full of ups and downs, a lot of downs; but I've learned where to find focus and joy in both the triumphs and the trials. Today now is just icing on the cake and, honestly, feels amazing to go into a major comp knowing I get to enjoy it regardless of the outcome. I have an amazing support system of friends, family, and training environment. Thank you all for the amazing love and support as always. 💕 I love you all.
