If there is magic on this planet, it is contained in water. —Loren Eiseley. Did you know that today is World Water Day? Why do we set aside a day to appreciate water? As it has been said, "Water is life." I want to challenge us to pause and be grateful for something that is fundamental to our well-being, an element that many actually do not have easy access to, if any. Stop and think about how many times you came into contact with water today. You probably took a shower, washed your hands, flushed a toilet, drank clean water, ran your dishwasher, watered your garden, all from sources you likely didn't think twice about. I believe that if we can be conscious of the gift of those things which are most fundamental in our lives—water, food, shelter, clothing, basic health— we can arise from that point of contentment ready to take on most any challenge that throws itself our way in the day to day of our modern, chaotic lives. Pause to consider the basics, stay there, speak gratitude over those simple things, and then everything beyond that will become a glorious bonus. 💧📷 Photo: shot from my dear friend @myrnaphotography's balcony in Brooklyn looking west toward Manhattan.

Let's dive headlong into the future. It's deep, it's unknown, it's a bit frightening, but it's expansive, bright, and full of hope. There's a lot to work with in the future. It's a blank canvas. Let's tear off a new page and write a better story today. Ready or not, 3-2-1, go!

Everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you’re climbing it. —Andy Rooney ✨ Wishing you all a blissful International Day of Happiness! 😃 Congrats to all my Norway friends for ranking in at number one on the world happiness index! 🇳🇴🏆 To all, keep on smiling and share your joys with those around you today! Be kind and stay grateful. 📷 Unreal sunset from Joshua Tree National Park this weekend with my amazing, creative son @jdtrap. No filter, actually had to pull back the saturation so it wouldn't look overcooked! Never seen anything quite so vivid in the sky. 🌄😱

There comes a time when the world gets quiet and the only thing left is your own heart. So you'd better learn the sound of it. Otherwise you'll never understand what it's saying. —Sarah Dessen 🌲 Have been enjoying time with my brilliant son Joseph along the California central coast. His drone piloting skills and video editing are so pro! I'll try to post some samples later. Having a blast. We've now made it down to Palm Springs where we're about to discover the secrets behind @psdonna's spectacular nature photography.

All the art of living lies in a fine mingling of letting go and holding on. —Havelock Ellis

It isn't the things that happen to us in our lives that cause us to suffer, it's how we relate to the things that happen to us that causes us to suffer. —Pema Chodron ✨ Made it up to the heavenly Morro Bay area with my son. Can't wait to show you his drone footage. Hope you're having a great week out there my friends.

It's ok to not shine for awhile, turn off your light and let the sun soak your soul, ponder the paths before you and make the next right choice. You can't be "always on" — it's not sustainable. ☀️ I made it to LA with my son but Rome is still resonating in my heart. I'm not one to follow rules with insta- or later-grams, etc. but will look for a few good shots to share as we make our way up to Morro Bay today. Have a wonderful day out there my friends. ✨

Was supposed to be in NYC right now for a spring break trip with my son, but the blizzard interrupted that. Got a refund from Delta (thank you!) and we jumped on the #Amtrak in Houston, headed to LA. Gorgeous open country out here. This was near the Texas-Mexico border this morning. #calibound ☀️🚊

A view to Pizzone, Italy. A fairy-book town nestled in the central Apennine Mountains west of Rome. I ordered a pair of custom handmade shoes from Luigi and Elena, a lovely couple living in this town. I highly recommend taking a diversion and spending time in this region off the beaten path! 🇮🇹✨

After 24 days, nine flights, six countries, four continents, 5310 photos, and 14 malaria pills, I'm back home! To get the cheapest flight home, I had to opt for a 15-hour layover in Istanbul. Paid the $20 visa fee and $20 cab fare to reach the Galata area Thursday morning for some urban photo-exploring for a few hours. The cloudy, cold day produced some nice shadowy, muted tones to accent the Galata Tower and surrounding scenes of doors, decay, alleyways, and street art. 🇹🇷🚪

Meanwhile, back in Rome... ✨🇮🇹

Blogging about rural Uganda, enchanted once again. Go to my @ktrap profile link to see today's post. Have a nice weekend, my friends. I appreciate all of your incredibly kind comments lately. ❤️🌍
