If there is magic on this planet, it is contained in water. —Loren Eiseley. Did you know that today is World Water Day? Why do we set aside a day to appreciate water? As it has been said, "Water is life." I want to challenge us to pause and be grateful for something that is fundamental to our well-being, an element that many actually do not have easy access to, if any. Stop and think about how many times you came into contact with water today. You probably took a shower, washed your hands, flushed a toilet, drank clean water, ran your dishwasher, watered your garden, all from sources you likely didn't think twice about. I believe that if we can be conscious of the gift of those things which are most fundamental in our lives—water, food, shelter, clothing, basic health— we can arise from that point of contentment ready to take on most any challenge that throws itself our way in the day to day of our modern, chaotic lives. Pause to consider the basics, stay there, speak gratitude over those simple things, and then everything beyond that will become a glorious bonus. 💧📷 Photo: shot from my dear friend @myrnaphotography's balcony in Brooklyn looking west toward Manhattan.
