The kids and I have been talking about this ☝️ lately. Bonnie D. Parkin's talk from #LDSconf a few years ago is one of my favorites. 💛💛 (link in profile) Teaching kindness and charity is hard sometimes. I'd love your tips!!! .
.
This quote is a favorite from her talk... "Elder Marvin J. Ashton beautifully observed: “Perhaps the greatest charity comes when we are kind to each other, when we don’t judge or categorize someone else, when we simply give each other the benefit of the doubt or remain quiet. Charity is accepting someone’s differences, weaknesses, and shortcomings; having patience with someone who has let us down; or resisting the impulse to become offended when someone doesn’t handle something the way we might have hoped. Charity is refusing to take advantage of another’s weakness and being willing to forgive someone who has hurt us. Charity is expecting the best of each other.”
.
.
All of this is so hard sometimes but it is so sweet to see progress (both mine and the kids).

This ☝️ is how I feel about the fact that it is Friday! 🎉🎉This little stinker wouldn't nap this morning when the kids were at school... apparently having me to herself was too much fun...😜 I love/hate naps. I kinda can't wait for her to be done taking them. I fantasize about how productive I will be... and then usually the only thing I successfully accomplish is eating an entire bag of Cadbury mini eggs and scrolling Instagram. 😂Hope your afternoon is more productive than that!

HAPPY SPRING! I am so excited that it stays light outside later these days and we've had a few more spring-like days here in CA (though it is back to rain today! 👎☔️)! I've been going through old photos and found this one of Catie playing with me when she was Annabelle's age! ❤❤Man I love this age! .

On Monday I am kicking off a ⭐️10 day simple PLAY CHALLENGE for these little toddlers.⭐️They are so fun and curious and adorable! Each day I'll be sharing a super simple open ended play activity that you can do with your little toddlers! I'll try and post the materials you'll need a day ahead in Instagram stories so that you can join in. The main reason I'm doing this challenge is to motivate myself to have more fun with my littlest (even if it is just 5 min a day)... since usually she just gets dragged on errands or to meetings with me. 😬
.
Anyone want to join in? 🙌Watch for more details in stories this weekend! TGIF!

It's BOAT WEEK over here and we're reading Toy Boat by Randall de Seve! So far we've made a boat making station, baking soda powered boats, and we did some boat sink or float that I'll share on the blog tomorrow. You can find all of the details for our boat making station on the blog right now (click the link in my profile)! My Diet Coke addiction comes in handy anytime we want to make crafts with soda bottles. We made colorful soda bottle boats and pool noodle boats and then had boat races! My house has been covered in water for three days now but the kids are having a blast. 😜😂💦

A few years ago while I was sitting in this chair nursing Ryan, Catie walked into the room, pulled out the drawers, and started scaling the dresser. The dresser almost fell over on top of her as I raced to put Ryan down and push the dresser back towards the wall. We anchored this dresser that day and we have anchored everything in our house from then on. I've learned that safety comes first before style and is more important that a few holes in your wall too. 😜Bookshelves, dressers, and changing tables are all susceptible to tipping over, posing the danger of injuring kids. Anchoring furniture is important!

Lately I feel like life is moving at warp speed. There is never enough time to get anything done and balancing the good things we NEED to do with other good things we WANT to do is constant battle. Yesterday at church I loved this quote that was shared...
.
.
"I feel to invite women (*I would add men too) everywhere to rise to the great potential within you. I do not ask that you reach beyond your capacity. I hope you will not nag yourselves with thoughts of failure. I hope you will not try to set goals far beyond your capacity to achieve. I hope you will simply do what you can do in the best way you know. If you do so, you will witness miracles come to pass." - Gordon B. Hinckley

❤❤❤I loved this reminder ☝️that we just need to do the best that we can. Getting outside in nature each Sunday with our family is such a good time for us to reconnect and check in with each other and help slow things down a bit. Thinking creatively and rationally is so much easier when we are outside too. Now I just need to silence the nagger in my head. Anyone else have one of those? 😜

Hunting for gold with my favorite 1-year-old. 🌈🍀I scattered gold coins all over the carpet and she picked each one up one by one and put them in her pot. She thought it was pretty much the coolest thing ever... and then we did it about 10 more times. It was seriously the highlight of my day seeing her cute little smile while we played.

Catie helped me do St. Patrick's Day ice excavation with her kindergarten class today. Perfect weather plus super enthusiastic kids digging for gold made for such a fun morning! 🌈🍀
.
.
If you want to try it at home, just grab gold coins and any other sort of fun St Patrick's Day trinkets, throw it in a tupperware and freeze it over night! We like to use turkey basters, rock salt, and warm/cold water while we excavate. I gave the kids plastic pots to put their treasures in. If you need to get something done for 15 minutes this is a good one. 😜We seriously do this for every holiday (and more) and it never gets old.

We had so much fun reading this new book Color Wonder: Hooray for Spring by Chiêu Anh Urban this past week and doing some colorful book inspired activities! If you swipe left you can see a few pictures. Head to the blog for all of the details. (Click on the link in my profile). The book is so colorful and fun... and little kids can manipulate it and turn the wheels to change the colors of the flowers while they read!!! This book fits perfectly in with a rainbow theme, colors theme, and a spring theme so we can use it all year long! ❤🌈 .

This little gem is killing me with her loud shrieks, slobbery kisses, and "I'm a big girl" attitude this week. ❤❤❤I've dropped a few balls over the past day or two and gotten exasperated a few too many times and when I'm feeling bad she will just turn her little body around and back into me at just the perfect time and sit on my lap for a cuddle or just a big hug. I literally would hug this girl all day long if she would let me... 😍😍
.
.
PS- this Merry go round thing is the bain of my existence at the park with a new walker. 😜She is constantly walking towards it while my big kids are moving it at like warp speed... and it is on the little kid side of the park. 😂
