Reality: after 17.2 (bar muscle ups galore) I made it a point to work on my horrendous bar muscle ups. And I did - and improved tremendously. I stopped chicken winging, I held bigger sets in metcons. I also worked so hard on my ring muscle ups. Both felt super strong.
What I didn’t expect was my AC joint to blow up on me, and since December I haven’t worked on muscle ups really more than once or twice, dealing with a shit ton of pain in the two days following.
Today’s metcon was lots of bar muscle ups. So I tried it, and I did pretty bad. My grip was shot, I was chicken winging. It was 17.2 all over again. And it was really hard to take.
The point is not every day is good. I’m upset at the work I’ve done being lost. I’m frustrated that it happened around the open. But here I am doing L sit strict Chest to bar pull-ups which I couldn’t do before. One step forward one step back. Turn the page.
