In this post I want to invite you on the tour around a colossal parliament building in Bucharest- Palatul Parlamentului. The Palace is second-largest administrative building in the world with an area of 365,000 sq. m, it is also known for its impressive interiors.
The construction started in 1984 and between 20,000 and 100,000 people worked on the site, sometimes operating in three shifts. The building has 12 floors and 8 underground levels, the last one being an antiatomic bunker, linked to the main state institutions by 20 km of catacombs. The building was constructed almost entirely of materials of Romanian origin. Among them: 3,500 tonnes of crystal – 480 chandeliers, 1,409 ceiling lights and mirrors, 700,000 tonnes of steel and bronze for monumental doors and windows. The Palace was built at a great price and it is the most controversial administrative buildings due to its history, but it is truly impressive. I was there on the 1,5 hour tour, and I have only seen 3% of the building. Also, the Palace of the Parliament is visible from the Moon.
