We want to hear from you.
.
.
We've told you a lot about #KidArtLit lately—about boxes and about why we love pairing books with open-ended art projects, but it's time to press pause on all of that for a moment.
.
.
We want to be certain, as Maya Angelou put it, that KidArtLit is a "rainbow in someone's clouds." So, what's going on in your life?
.
.
Give us the 411. Get started now with the link in our bio. It's really quick!

Whether you have visited the Grand Canyon or it’s still on your bucket list, there is no doubt it’s a place of inspiration. In this month’s #KidArtLit picture book, author/illustrator Jason Chin takes readers on a stunningly beautiful walk through the canyon and expertly weaves the story of its evolution into one of the world’s most recognizable outdoor wonders.
.
.
Just soaking in the book’s large pages and watercolor illustrations of the canyon’s grand vistas will entrance any family, but Chin’s intricate sketches of plants and animals, layer-by-layer explanations of the canyon’s geology and ecosystems, and in-depth back matter will secure ‘Grand Canyon’ as a beloved title in your home library for years to come. There is truly something for everyone in this book, so enjoy it as a read aloud and return to it again and again.
.
.
Once you hike the canyon, you’ll definitely be hungry for more of Chin’s unique nonfiction. Swipe through to see more of his books and find your family’s next story time destination.

Reluctant, uninterested, won't stop moving, wild, doesn't want to sit down... do you know a child like this? Maybe you have one living in your home (like we do). ✨🎨
.
.
Does it seem like every time you have a brilliant creative project idea to share wit your kids you are met with a waterfall of "Nooooooooooo!"? It makes a mom feel like giving up, throwing in the towel, and wallowing in a vat of frustration while eating a pint of ice cream (don't judge).❤️🎨
.
.
We may write that kid off as not interested and leave it at that. But let me ask you something. When your child snubs her nose at the broccoli you cooked do you never offer her broccoli again? No! You steam it, roast it, mash it up sneak it into brownies and call it a day. What I mean is, you offer it in other forms. You play with it, you keep offering it, and at some point that snubbed nose might come down and give that broccoli a sniff...and maybe even a bite.🎨✨
.
.
We say, let's do the same with creativity. Let's infuse a bit more play, a bit more imagination and see what happens. We are sharing 3 of our favorite (simple!) art games that will get your kids in the mood to create in no time. Click the link in our profile to read the whole post.👆

Including clay in the July KidArtLit box not only created a natural bridge from the rocks, layers, and imprissions that are explored in #jasonchin 'a book 'Grand Canyon,' but clay is also one of the #1 art materials young children are encouraged to play with. And here's why:
.
.
Fine Motor Skills: pinching, grasping, rolling, and smashing all develop the muscles in a child's hands and arms. This helps them develop the fine motor skills they will need to be successful doing a variety of life's tasks later on, including writing.✨
.
.
Vision & Confidence: playing with clay helps children communicate their ideas, express their emotions, and is easily manipulated. This helps them feel in control. Many young artists proclaim that they feel like a "big kid" when they play with clay.✨
.
.
Therapeutic: playing with clay can be calming and stress relieving for children (and adults, too). The tactile experience helps children deal with stress, and they can transfer any struggles from the day into the clay. It's grounding.✨
.
.
In every #KidArtLit delivery, we include art materials that are not meant to just inspire, but intended to develop an idea, a skill, or broaden a child's perspective of the world. Providing moments for children and families to bond, connect, and create together on purpose. ✨
.
.
How do you feel about using clay with your children? ✨
