I love #tbt traditional and contemporary curtains. These curtains, festoons and cascades were installed in my clients front living room bay window in their 1875 Chicago townhouse. The photos were taken Monday. They still look crisp and clean after hanging for 35 years.

The entrance into my building after last night's snowfall. The "sounds of silence".

It's December 1st.... the month of Christmas! I love Christmas! From my home to yours, Merry Christmas !

A new favorite book: Chinese Wallpaper in Britain and Ireland by Emile de Bruijn. #chinesewallpaper #chinoiserie #chinoiseriedecor #chinoiseriestyle #wallpaper #wallcovering#emiledebruijn#graciewallpaper #degournay

All ready for Christmas outside the building I live in. Merry Christmas.#oakdaletowers#christmas #oakdaletowerscondominium

I remember when Marshall Field & Company, 1852/1865 - 2006 created really wonderful and unique displays. They were the gold standard for American Department stores. Here is a photo from 1941 of an elegant, glittering and cool Christmas display in the north atrium of the Chicago State Street store. #marshallfieldsforever #marshallfield #marshallfields#marshallfieldandco #marshallfieldschicago

My guest room - welcoming you and wrapping its "arms" around you on a cloudy, rainy and dreary Chicago day.

Symmetry just inside my front door. Walls are upholstered in a yellow and cream checked silk. Sitting on top of the rosewood Regency manner credenza with brass grill work and gold leaf trim are a pair of cobalt blue crystal overlay lamps with white string shades. A pair of China trade porcelain plates are on either side of a French portico 19th century clock. On the upholstered walls above are English gilt metal and bronze figural wall sconces depicting Robinson Crusoe and his man Friday which flank a 19th century oil painting of a gray horse. A Stark fine needlepoint rug and a pair of Chippendale carved giltwood arm chairs, circa 1770; covered in green silk complete the look.

Upholstered walls in my bedroom using my favorite claret toile. Pillement Toile and Leopardo silk velvet pillow by Scalamandre. Schweitzer Linens.

Drapery Details. My clients love curtains/draperies to add warmth to a room and enhance the views out the windows.

Flowers peaking out from underneath a weathered wooden fence on Mackinac Island at the end of this 2017 season.

Beside an oval Waterford mirror, looking through the portieres made of a striped multi-colored silk, at an early 19th century penwork two door cabinet. Hung on the yellow and cream silk upholstered walls are silhouettes, botanicals, an oil painting and an antique Regency silk work figurative. The two Napoleon III candle sticks are from the Alberto Pinto Collection; the 1999 Sotheby's auction.
