Engine 6 through the years... It didn't become "306" until 1978 when all Yonkers apparatus were requested to designate all engines with numbers in the 300s, and the trucks in the 70s, to avoid confusion with the county on mutual aid runs. Despite this change, companies in Yonkers still commonly just refer to themselves by their single or double digit designations, such as "6" or "12", etc. @yonkers_firefighters
