013 // #the100dayproject #100babastories I made a point to hang out with Baba for an extended period of time one day, not worrying about recording stories, just spending time together. My boyfriend was in Fairhope, Alabama for the weekend and sent me a photo of a book he came across at a bookstore and I couldn't help but laugh at the title. Baba is sometimes hard of hearing but when she is feeling nosey and wants to hear what's going on in someone else's conversation, she can hear a pin drop, so she quickly asked me what I was laughing at. I read the book title to her: "How To Talk To Your Cat About Gun Safety (and Abstinence, Drugs, Satanism, and Other Dangers That Threaten Their Nine Lives)" and she was immediately consumed in giggles, which made me double over in laughter. Baba laughed at the photo of the cover too, which featured a sad-looking grey kitten reaching for a handgun. She said "I'm gonna hafta tell Marija Seput about that!"
We continued watching whatever daytime TV Judge Judy type show was on. An hour later, out of the blue, she remarked "What you think a cat would do if it set a gun off?" and fell into another fit of giggles. My sister stopped by an hour or so later and upon entering the house, the first thing Baba said wasn't hello but "Tell her about the cat with the gun!" cracking up the entire time.
