Gili Meno is awesome. It's very wild and quiet. There is no engine vehicle here, only bicycles and horses. I woke up at 5:30am this morning for yoga, sun salutations made me feel alive more than ever.
We then went for a run around the island. White sand beach, crystal clear water, the sky is insanely blue. How cool is that?
It's pretty amazing to look back all the places I have travelled and practiced yoga. Everywhere has its own unique features making me want to go back again or to reside forever. But I bet it would not feel the same if I weren't sharing it with someone I love.
Here to another holiday with my beloved person. Thank you for always being my best supporter in everything. #happybelatedanniversary .

I figured it out many of my fellow yogis didn't really get how to go in to this pose. Since Carmen is too flexible anyway. I think the best way (from my experience) to go in is to start from traditional wheel pressing from the ground with two hands as close to the wall as possible. From there press your chest closer to the wall, at the same time engage your gluteus maximus (butts) to keep the legs stable. Also it really requires so much shoulders strength and flexibility, you need to do shoulders opening exercises before. Make sure you're properly warmed up.
Once you are in the pose, press your chest to the wall to hold balance, and then move your hands slowly to chinstand-like position.

Been practicing this transition from chinstand to chest stand. Not really smooth but I will get there one day. .

I have a principal when it comes to yoga practice. "Your progress today is a result of yesterday's practices. No matter how good you are, there is always someone better than you. Comparing and competing is never worth it."
Take backbend for an example:
Honestly I don't really practice backbending that much when I first started yoga. I don't like the feeling of losing control. I used to fall alot sideways when I tried to balance. I fell in full wheelpose too, with my head banged on the floor. My chinstand? I have a few scars under my chin too. Self-practicing and self-learning yoga aren't easy for people like me. It always a challenge when you learn yoga with yourself, you've got to be creative, you've got to read, research, try and test all the methods. Because you know, not all the techniques are suitable for your body's flexibility, strength.
But since the start of 2017, I became more serious in my yoga practice. I take constructive approach to backbend. I stop watching youtube's videos for advices, stop comparing myself to other amazing yogis; instead, I listen to my body, use props, wall, chair, etc. I learnt to counterpose the poses (best knowledge I picked up from 200hr YTT). I learnt to relax my muscles and take longer warm up. No magic happens but I find the way my body feels comfy the most.
Then, It got better.
Remember, yoga practice is a journey. Not a destination. 😊
