Rear delt flys tonight πŸ‘ŠπŸΌπŸ™‹πŸΌ my shoulders are honestly my weakness and love love love to be trained all the time but not really grow ☝🏻😭 #betrayal
But they're slowly getting there, and in 10 weeks time tomorrow, will hopefully be where I want them to be. This prep is going well, mentally I'm in a good headspace for it, my cardio is not (yet) too crazy, and there's no way you'd see me going flat out no carbs. I know what works for my body, play to my strengths, own my weaknesses - but work on them daily πŸ’―β˜πŸ» #bemore πŸ“Ή @deedesires ❀️

How many times a day do you just stop to chill for a second? I know I'm guilty of getting so busy with work, training and life that I can let things, which really are small in the great scheme of things, distract me from the bigger picture and my bigger goals. It is so important to take time out - not just for yourself, but for those around you, so they get the best version of you. But this can be so much easier said than done. I find myself almost scheduling in time now to make time for myself (if that even makes sense), as in "Katelyn, just chill. Focus on the bigger things". Sounds weird, but it helps to just centre yourself again and focus on what's really important. I also know how I can say things in the heat of the moment or make average decisions if I don't remind myself to breathe. Make time to reflect on who you are, the impact you have, and what sort of energy you project when people meet you. We're so focused on our physiques, I get it I am too, but your mindset is what will either make or break you πŸ’―β˜πŸ» #believethat #bemore

What I'm like 99% of the time unless I'm annoyed, ranting, or trying to pose for some "hump day" appropriate pic πŸ™„ #whatislife
I don't know if it's because I'm getting older or have far more perspective on the fitness industry now than I did when I started competing, but I'm far more conscious of how I portray the realities of competing to those who ask. It is not a fad or the current "to do" for me, it is part of my life that I love. But I'm conscious to also celebrate other achievements. I'm just as proud, if not more so, of other things I have in my life - and it makes me so happy when I see others being just as proud of their careers, their travel experiences, their friendships and relationships, or how well they treat others. I'm just as proud of my ability to successfully teach for the past 4 years and being successful with my career, or my ability to be honest with others and do literally anything for those I care about - just as much as I am of medals from competing or gaining size in target physique areas. I know how common it is to celebrate the physical, but that's all it is. Eventually it goes - your impact on others remains. Have more, be more. What can you celebrate about your life that is not just physical? ❀️ #ThatShitCanGetOld #HumpdayIsJustAWednesday πŸ“· @samanthamorrisss ❀️❀️

Social media is cool and all, but just remember your followers don't mean shit and you ain't shit if you're not a good person in real life. Just because something looks good, doesn't mean it is πŸ’―β˜πŸ» #BeStraightUp

Sometimes it isn't about who you've known the longest, but about who has your back and keeps it real with you πŸ’―β˜πŸ»πŸ’πŸΌ

Still my favourite body part to train 😏😍 even though it only gets my attention every fortnight or so 😩
I've been training for a long time now. When I was 14 I used to walk up the road after school to the rec centre (Howick Rec Centre my very first gym ❀️) and be there from 4-7 every week day, no joke. Dad would pick me up on his way home from work πŸ˜‚β€οΈ I was definitely obsessed and that led into my binge eating period in my mid teens in hindsight. But I was disciplined because I believe in the value of hard work and more importantly, consistency. I'm 25 next week so have been lifting now for just over a decade - this is great in a lot of ways but also really frustrating. For me with the bikini class it's often not size, but getting tight and conditioned. Remember we all have our own physique battles! πŸ’―β˜πŸ» #nationalsprep #openbikini

Open heart. With backbone. Do not skip the struggle βš‘οΈπŸ’― @iamhertribe

Girls don't forget to train your rear delts! Important for that balanced physique/wide and capped shoulder look, that can make a big difference to how small your waist appears πŸ’―β˜πŸ»
I'm currently just under 11 weeks out from my next show, and a fair bit leaner than I was at this point out from my last show, the Pro/Am earlier this year. Probably because I'm not in the UK this time, drinking slightly too much gin and taking advantage of the @benandjerrys in the freezer section in my old hood πŸ™„ #IRegretNothing
But it is good because I don't feel like I have a whole lot of catching up to do this time! No reason to get complacent though - still SO much to be done. #SayNoToSnickersPods
Thanks to @amywiles57 for another amazing train and catch up - Amy and I are both getting ready to compete in open bikini at Waikatos, and we haven't shared the stage since my first show in March 2016, so I am so excited for this next journey with her β€οΈπŸ™ŒπŸ»

Good luck ever being enough for someone who's not even enough for themselves πŸ’―β˜πŸ» #doyoufirst #ISoWiseWassup

There are so many things I could say about this girls determination, work ethic and passion for the bikini class. But it's going to speak for itself at nationals in 12 weeks πŸ’―β˜πŸ» and I'll make sure I do the same πŸ‘ŠπŸΌ The support I've had from @bellasilva in so much more than competing is amazing. That is what I love about competing - there are some freaking awesome people that are involved, people that are good friends outside of the sport. That's what's real πŸ’―β˜πŸ» glutes done πŸ™ŒπŸ»

To those who see past the 'objects' πŸ’―β˜πŸ» #bemore #integrityisrare

Have an amazing Saturday β˜•οΈπŸ’ͺπŸ»πŸŽ‰

Me, 11 weeks out, in my 6th prep 😴❀️Post glutes & sprints - yes all I train is pretty much glutes and shoulders, in line with my feedback from past shows and the need to fit the IFBB bikini category. I'm more conscious than ever this prep of keeping stress levels low and focussing on my overall health - I've learnt through prepping how much of an impact stress has on my physique and how important it is to keep yourself mentally in check (sleep, positivity, focusing on yourself etc). Competing saved me when I moved back to New Zealand in many ways (will maybe one day elaborate on that), and it means a lot to me. But like I'll always say, it's not everything. Your worth as an individual is not determined by a placing. I want people starting out to remember that because I really wish I'd remembered that when I started πŸ’―β˜πŸ»#bemore #nationalsprep
