This year’s end-of-the-year thank you cards, lovingly handmade by KGD staff, should be making their way to 250 mailboxes across town. If there’s anyone out there that we missed...thank you so much for your love and support and generosity in 2017. KGD would be nothing without you, our beloved community!💚

Happy Winter Solstice ❄️! Get ready to have more sunshine in your life.

2017 was full of milestones for KGD. Not only did we serve more growers than ever before we made real progress with farm infrastructure, land security and wholesale market expansion among other things. Read all about what we accomplished with our beloved community and check out new excerpts from our #wekeepgrowing storytelling project at the link in our bio.

Soil could be the most under appreciated matter on the planet. When it is healthy it not only yields healthy food, it also holds water during heavy rainfalls preventing flooding and sequesters carbon preventing it from moving to the air or oceans and warming the planet. In 2017 #keepgrowingdetroit distributed 481 cubic yards of compost/food for soil to GRP members (a cubic yard is the size of a washing machine). This saved our growing community about $12,000 but what’s more important is the value to our city’s health and environment! Of course it means nothing if it stays in big piles across the city...Detroit’s amazing urban ag community ❤️ did the heavy lifting per usual! It takes a lot of effort to move it and lovingly work it into the soil. #thankyou #keepGIVINGdetroit

In 2017 (with lots of help from partners and growers) #keepgrowingdetroit distributed 98,192 packs of seeds and 304,414 Detroit grown transplants to Garden Resource Program Members. The market value of these resources/combined savings to members was $389,705. #wedidthat #keepGIVINGdetroit

This year #keepgrowingdetroit supported 1,534 gardens and farms across Detroit making fresh fruits and vegetables accessible to 23,551 residents. 🥗🌶 🍅 🍆 #wedidthat #keepgivingdetroit
