“What mental health needs is more sunlight, more candor, more unashamed conversation about illnesses that affect not only individuals, but their families as well.” - Glenn Close
This thanksgiving I can’t help but reflect on what a particularly daunting couple of years it has been for my heart. For all the bones I’ve broken, this was still much harder to heal. I am so thankful to finally feel mentally healthy; to finally sigh relief; to finally feel home. I am even more thankful for the support of friends and family. I’ll forever be grateful and indebted that when my heart does hurt, you let me lean on yours - and I’ll never take for granted the extra weight you have to bear. Thank you, thank you.
Mental illness continues to be a stigma in society - let it be a conversation, let imperfection be okay. Let someone with heavy bones and a heavy heart know that you are there to hold them up, until they can themselves.
