NO GLUTEN = NO ECZEMA
NO SLS = NO CANKER SORES
Hey Friends! I wanted to share two life hacks that have improved my health and happiness. These might not work for everyone, but I can say without a doubt I have personally seen huge benefits, and immediate improvements from making two minor adjustments.
The most recent was cutting out gluten. I had always felt swollen and uncomfortable after eating bread... but, I just thought it was normal. It is a commonly shared sentiment that “bread makes you feel bloated”, in retrospect I think that sensation was pretty extreme in my case. What actually tipped me off that I was sensitive to gluten was eczema flare ups on my face. Ever since I was a teen I would get seasonal eczema around my nose and mouth during the winter. I assumed it was due to the weather, but last year it lasted through spring & summer. Over the years I had tried everything to get rid of it, so I knew it was not going to be an easy solution. After trying numerous topicals and naturopathic remedies, Doctors suggest steroids... which seemed extreme. I had become increasingly aware of gluten sensitivities and had heard several people say that it could cause eczema, combined with the fact that I would feel the red blotches glowing with a red burning heat directly after eating bread/pasta; I thought it would be worth while to cut it out as a last ditch effort before steroid treatment.
Two days after cutting out gluten, I could see drastic improvement in my eczema. A week after it was 99% gone. After two weeks my skin was healthier then it had been more in years!
If I am not strict and eat a glutenous treat 🍞🥐🥖🥨 I will almost immediately have a flare up.
My second tip - SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) is the ingredient in toothpaste that makes it foamy. I grew up constantly having canker sores in my mouth, it was bothersome but I never knew any different, so I just dealt with the nasty lil buggers. It wasn’t until my daughter was a toddler and suffered from terrible pain, that I started researching the cause. The dentist didn’t have any advice, so I took to the web, and found a forum where several people suggested trying a toothpaste without SLS. ⬇️⬇
