After Katrina, my dad lived in New Orleans for about half a year working with disaster relief. Even though it was incredibly hard to live so far away from him, the times we went to visit him in the basically deserted city are some of my favorite memories. We roller bladed literally everywhere we went, we got to go to the grand reopening of the zoo, and we went to Cafe du Monde just about every morning (pretty sure it's responsible for my coffee addiction). Since our flight to NY got cancelled, my sister and I got to revisit some of the places those memories were from for the first time in 12 years. We saw the city while it was being rebuilt, and it was pretty great to go back and see the city "alive& #34; for the first time (like, there was actually people there) I was pretty bummed about New York, but exploring this city again made it almost worth it. NOLA, I'll be back soon.
