"Stay small, sweet, quiet, and modest" seems like a 1950s problem. But as Brene Brown pointed out, women still run into those demands whenever we find and use our voices. Yes, even in 2017. From one extreme where I've been told I was naive for believing we could do it better, to put a lid on my excitement, to be measured in my passionate asks of why can't it be done? To the other end where I've been high-5d and told countless times I was 'ballsy'. Mainly from other women. Why not booby? Because that would be ridiculous! It's just called being a woman. A woman who chooses to take a seat at the table, at the risk of being called naive or arrogant. Who is willing to say what others won't, on behalf of those who can't. And who just shows up unapologetically, not because she's better than anyone else, just because she knows she's got something to offer. Happy International Women's Day, babes. May we be the woman our little girl's brave wanted us to grow up to be. May we be them for us, and may we be them for our worlds daughters coming behind us. Tag a woman you admire for unapologetically turning up today.
