I don't do selfies but there's a reason for this one. I was diagnosed over a decade ago with chronic Lyme disease, fibromyalgia and lupus. I lived in constant pain. Before I got sick I was a workout junkie and all lean muscle. I could do ten pull-ups overhand behind my neck. I could knock off a hundred push-ups with my feet propped up on a window ledge. Illness stripped away my ability to workout. As those of you with chronic illness and autoimmune disease know, you work out, you feel even more pain. A simple 40 minutes on my elliptical could swell both knees for a month. I always felt that my body had betrayed me. It hadn't. I was betraying it. Recently I changed something so bloody simple I can't believe no doctor ever suggested it. After 13 years, I can work out again and am already cutting hard muscle. In less than a month, I'm 75-80% pain free, something I didn't think would ever happen. I had a GLUTEN intolerance. If you have an autoimmune issue read up on the AIP (autoimmune protocol diet) and consider going Paleo. I'd have chewed off my own arm to feel this way again. Also read the book Wheat Belly. I haven't felt so good in 20 years. I'll never eat wrong again.
