Karan Nagpal  Hopeful brewer. Ardent explorer of the universe. Cricket buff.

Best day of cricket I've ever had! And the best pint ever to follow! Started off well, 100-2 in 20 overs, and then stuttered to 196 all out. Opposition started off really well with 90-1 in ten overs and what followed was a dream. 7.1 overs on the trot, 2 maidens, 6-12! Great win, and a great team! Cheers to Darren Forrest for the opportunity and the confidence in me! Hope to see many more spells with you! Great team effort for the a superb win!

The good stuff!

So I visited Stone brewing at Berlin almost a month ago and took their tour at the end of which I was supposed to get a glass. We didn't even know about it as it was the person's first time and she forgot. So I just shot them a message and asked them whether the glass came only if you paid more, and they responded saying it was their mistake and made up for it with 6 glasses and a tee shirt! Such a lovely generous gesture from a great brand! Well done Stone Brewing!

Caption says it all! Having some fun experimenting with flavours!

Time to get healthy and stuff. 11 kms today! Good start I guess!

Just sometimes the cliché is okay. Thank you for the good times! Here's to years more! :*

Great weekend means great beer of course! Along with sipping in a historic trappist ale, these were some of the stand outs. An ale that's made used grape must, from Spain, a wonderful bock lager from Argentina, and ice cream pale ale that's a collaborative effort by Buxton and Omnipollo breweries and the list of draught available at the Salt Horse which is turning into a great little gem with some great beers on tap!

Westvleteren. This Quadruple from one of the 6 still existing Trappist breweries is one of the most exclusive beers on the planet. It's nutty, rich, and oh so decadent. With aromas reminiscent of a great whiskey. The flavour is packed full of malty goodness and its complexity slowly builds up as the beer warms up in your hand. At first I didn't think it was worth the hype it has around it, but as I sipped deeply in its 10,4% of heady indulging character, it grew better with each sip and the last one saddened me because it was over. So very happy to have tasted this piece of delicious history!

As always an absolute joy to be in the awe-inspiring presence of the man that is more whisky than human, the legendary Charles MacLean! Talks that swayed magnificently from history, alchemy, wars and whisky and seamlessly blended into that of the future and the good life gone by and coming soon just left me speechless. His best friend (Dr Peter) from school, in frame, was probably the most entertaining person I've ever met who regaled us with stories, colorful anecdotes and recited, from memory, some of the most inspiring poetry I've been lucky to have listened to in my short life! Hope to have more of these enlightening, philosophical chats with people who've seen and done it all! Life truly does seem amazing on days like this.

Just Scotland being Scotland. Geez. Summer lasts about an hour here.

'Twas a good day.
