And just like that another week is coming to an end. How has yours been?
I’m grateful for a week where I’ve had to expand my mind and heart to let a lot of light in. Sometimes in life you have to go to those dark places, only then can you appreciate all the beautiful things that you’re blessed with. 🙏

How are you spending your afternoon?

I’m reading some poetry that is good for my soul...thank you Maya Angelou 🙏🏼 “...Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I'll rise.

Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops,
Weakened by my soulful cries?

Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don't you take it awful hard
'Cause I laugh like I've got gold mines
Diggin' in my own backyard.

You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I'll rise.

Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I've got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?”

From the colors to the textures to the smells, Marrakech is the most wonderful sensory overload. There’s an energy that makes it feel magical.

I love the hint of gold in our classic boho box which gives it a regal feel. What do you think?

Did you know all our lacquer products are hand crafted by artisans in Vietnam?

The Singapura collection celebrates the rich Peranakan heritage and the present-day cultural diversity of Singapore in the form of beautiful, contemporary gift wares and stationery.
The Peranakans, also known as babas, trace their history back to the 15th century when Chinese and Indian traders first settled in the Malay Peninsula, introducing their customs and traditions into the local culture.

In order to blossom, the lotus flower must grow through mud, dirty pond water, and generally rough conditions—but it blooms anyway. Like the lotus, we too can grow through dark times and difficulties, and we can rise again and again to shine from a pure place within 🙏🏼

Once upon a time...
Grateful for these beautiful memories, once upon a time in Gion,
How are you spending your Friday evening, tribe?

All our lacquer products are painstakingly hand crafted by skilled artisans from Vietnam. Pictured here is one of our bestsellers, the Lapis lacquer tray complete with gold leafing along the rim for that extra oomph! Available online at www.kalapata.com and @sceneshang flagship store.

Isn’t there a charming, ‘old world’ nostalgic feeling when you see beautiful tiles? Or is it just me????

"Art Nouveau’s Majolica Tiles & Pattern Floor Tiles were used in the latter half of the Victorian era in thousands of suburban houses across the British Isles, with designs predominately based on floral motifs. Later, when tiles grew in popularity among the Chinese communities in South East Asia, auspicious Chinese elements were introduced into the motifs. These included the fish, crane, bat, lion, peacock and qilin. Fruit motifs such as the peach, grape, pomegranate and pineapple were widely used in commercial shop houses and Peranakan's Homes. Which is why they are commonly known as “Peranakan Tiles & Pattern Floor Tiles."

Do you agree?
Flowers always make people better, happier and more helpful. They are sunshine, food and medicine for the soul!
