Upper body for dayyyysss 🙄 ...but at least I like doing it. No running, jumping, heavy leg lifting due to meniscus tear that's gradually getting worse.
👐🏽.~*Let's learn*~. 🌈
The role of the meniscus is to protect the knee joint from compressive, shear, rotational, and honestly any other directional forces the tibiofemoral joint is put under. As seen in the picture, it helps distribute the forces and maintain stability as we move. As you can imagine, this piece of tissue is hugely important for not only daily life, but running and jumping. I think we do some of that in parkour. .
Looking back at my jumping/landing techniques, combined with twisting motions and a little *ahem* lack of mobility, I sustained a multi-directional meniscus tear. I have done all the PT I can do and I've decided to get surgery to get the tear removed. But you best believe I'm going to work on my shock absorption techniques when I get back to it. (Anyone is welcome to join me for that at Apex!)
