Last month I had the opportunity to shoot @wilembanks at Mavericks to test @ripcurl_usa new SearchGPS2 to see the max speed he could hit on this wave. It was the most nerve wracking but also exilerating experience I've had filming.
Exiting the harbor there were rogue waves with 20ft faces breaking out near the channel and fog set in briefly. They were predicting 50ft faces on the larger swing sets at Mavericks. Wilem charged this day and caught two bomb sets. Stoked to be able to experience and witness this raw power!
It's been incredible watching @brisahennessy surf since I first started working for Rip Curl in 2013. She absolutely dominated the contests since she started in 2013 as a grom, and now has qualified for the @wsl CT. Enjoyed going through the archives and see your dreams come true! Congrats Brisa!!
Last time I was in China was 2012 for filming a tidal bore wave. Fast forward six years and tomorrow I'm heading back to assist the timelapse God @drewgiggity for three weeks! You might've seen his work already if you love the intro to House of Cards 😉.
The water clarity here in the Caribbean is incredible! One thing that saddens me though is how many of the reefs we've visited look like graveyards because of coral bleaching. We can all do a small part in helping prevent coral bleaching by using sunscreens that use non-nano zinc oxide as their active ingredients, they do not contribute to coral bleaching.
Seriously so proud of you @alexislanz. All those late nights working on your design projects, patterns and other assignments has paid off and you reached the finish line with honors! 🎉 I love you and congratulations on your BFA in Graphic Design. 🙌🏼🎓
