This year we give a Special Recognition award to Carey Lander. In 2011, Carey Lander, the keyboard player and vocalist for Camera Obscura, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. After the cancer returned, Carey launched a JustGiving page in August 2015 to “raise a bit of cash to help others in a similar situation.” Within weeks it had become Sarcoma UK’s largest ever single appeal. She dedicated the last few months of her life to raising awareness of osteosarcoma, a rare type of bone cancer that mostly affects teenagers and young people. Carey passed away in October 2015 having raised £50,000, a figure that has since more than doubled to £120,000, inspiring donations from more than 50 countries around the world. http://just.ly/Carey-Lander

Rhian Burke won the Outstanding Commitment award. The sudden loss of Rhian's 12-month-old son, George, and five days later the death of her husband, Paul, exposed her to the lack of bereavement support for parents. She set up the 2 Wish Upon A Star to ensure other families received proper support. http://just.ly/2wishuponastar

The JustGiving Life Changer Award is a brand new category for 2016. All three of our finalists have made a tangible difference to people's lives. This year's winner is Nicole Sedgebeer. When Nicole missed her last train home Mark stepped in to help. Mark, who is homeless, took Nicole to a cafe where she'd be safe and also made sure she got the first train home the next day. Nicole's raised over £13,000 to thank Mark and help get him back on his feet. http://just.ly/nicole-sedgebeer

Natalia Spencer won Endurance Fundraiser of the Year. Natalia's five-year-old daughter Elizabeth died very suddenly last Christmas. Just two months later, Natalia set off to walk the entire British coastline. Half way through her challenge, she had already raised £60,000 for Wallace & Gromit's Grand Appeal. Natalia is walking 20 miles a day, six days a week to prevent other families from having to experience her pain. http://just.ly/NataliaSpencer

The PayPal Crowdfunder of the Year award was won by Adam Johnson. Derry is paralysed from the neck down. He uses tailored computer equipment to enable him to use a laptop which is his only means to communicate. When his equipment was stolen in a burglary, fellow [Northampton Town FC] fan Adam started crowdfunding to replace everything that was taken. http://just.ly/adam-johnson
