Our first trip to Bangkok we got suckered into taking a tuk-tuk ride that took us to see a number of temples but also took us around to several tailors and travel agents hoping we would buy a package deal. We ended up making our tuk-tuk driver angry when we didn’t get purchase a suit or an adventure 🤪 Oh the joys of falling for tourist traps!

Take me back to vacation mode!

Cruise ships of Halong Bay...

When asked what their favorite thing about Hoi An was, my husband and daughter both agree it was taking a boat ride and releasing floating candles into the water.

We had been warned that it was an intense museum, but as parents we wanted to educate our children on the effects of war. The kids and I never made it through. We all ended up on the second floor with tears streaming from our eyes. In the words of MLK, “Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.”

One rainy afternoon we made a trek out to My Son Temple that was destroyed by US bombing in the Vietnam war. It has now been recognized as a world heritage site by UNESCO.

Favorite things about Vietnam... The busyness on the streets thanks to venders walking around selling their goods and all the motorcycles, we love the organized chaos, finding hidden gems of stores and restaurants down alleyways, and the bright colors everywhere!

Pure bliss!!!

We visited an oyster farm in Halong Bay where my daughter was chosen to pick a closed oyster and see if there was a pearl inside... she picked a winner!

We lost track of how many times we walked around this lake... in the drizzling rain... But we would always stop along the way to check out the fun coffee shops for something warm to drink, tourist shops selling weasel poop coffee, and spas for a massage!

We celebrated New Years Eve early with high tea at the Metropole Hotel... shoutout to @hkfashionmom for recommending this place to us!
