As you know I'm on my Central American tour .. since last year November, so we booked our flight tickets and hotel in advance , so that everything could be cheaper, we did our research about the visas and so on! We knew that if I had an American visa I could travel Central American without applying for a visa, and if so I can apply for one at that country's borders! So we started from New York then Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama without any problems! My SA's passport was everywhere accepted. But when I wanted to go to Colombia that's when the problems started.. I flew from Panama and nobody from the Copa airlines told me that the rules have changed since October, that you need a visa to enter Colombia when holding a SA's passport, they let me fly to Colombia without telling us!! So we arrived at the airport at 11pm and they let My Swiss friends enter without a visa and blocked me from entering! They treated me like a criminal, they made me stay in another room without my friends and had 24/ security on me , without food, water or cigarettes till the next day! We showed them the information in our guidebook and from a website specialized in visa issues which both said that as a South African I do not need a visa for Colombia! Their response was: Well....it was like this before the rules changed. Then they said I gonna have to go back to my country! As if that wasn't bad enough! We lost our money on the hotels and fights that we've booked in advance , they would not let me see my friends! I couldn't move without being followed security!
