Face your Fears Head On
β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”
#TBT to the time I jumped out of an airplane. Until about 2-3 weeks before that time, I’d rarely even considered doing it. I wasn’t afraid of heights (in a plane) but I was afraid of the shoot not opening up. A little bit after this skydiving event, I decided to leave six figure cushy employment and start being a full-time entrepreneur. I was always scared to do it because I wasn’t confident I could make it. Over 2.5 years later and I’m flourishing and wondering why I took so long to move my side hustles to my full time hustle. Never be scared to bet on yourself. If you’re honest about your hard ethic and talent, the rest will always work out.

Being inspired in a space while you’re working long hours
β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”
I fully admit that I probably have an unhealthy relationship with work. I work LONG hours everyday. I rarely know if it’s the weekend or which day of the week it is because my goals for the day are the same. I wake up excited to create and I work on that singularly until I’m tired or no longer executing at an inspired passionate level. I look for ways to hack that inspired passionate level of creating through different ways. One way that helps is, I’ve found that having a view of skylines helps me stay inspired longer. I think it’s mainly because I can see the city moving 24/7/365. That means my competition is moving and I’m damned if I’ll let someone catch me on my journey.

Bros you go to battle with in business. β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”
I have a select group of friends, most of them I’ve had for 7+ years, that I just keep working with on projects. It doesn’t matter the size or scope, we always find a way to integrate each other into it. Some have been challenging, some have been rewarding but overall it’s always a pleasure. Get yourself a talented group of friends that have similar growth mindsets and you’ll be successful. β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”-
The value of a business man is the network that he keeps.

Stay in β€œyour lane” and get hyper focused on your strengths. β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”
The world is becoming more and more noisy. So many opinions...so little rooted in proven principles. I stay in β€œmy lane” 99% of the time. If a conversation starts about things I don’t have an educated opinion on, I listen only. You speak about something in my wheelhouse and I’ll passionately explain my position. β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”
Either I was dropping some knowledge on @cjwoodruffofficial on the @PricePlow podcast or he is just a good actor πŸ˜‰

Work hard, Play Hard. (Coachella 2017)
β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”
I caught myself looking at some friends Instagram photos and Stories that were at Coachella this year. I rarely ever have FOMO but this is the first in four years that I didn’t attend. I’m at the weird stage where I don’t want to rough it anymore in the 90-100 degree California desert heat but don’t have zero fucks about money where I can drop $1000/night in Palm Springs. Until I level up to that, I’ll just have memories and YouTube broadcasts of Coachella. I would have liked to see Eminem (but only his angry at Kim LPs from late 90s/early 2000s stuff).

β€œTalking” is just not in my DNA, I like to β€œwalk” and learn. β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”
That is easier said than done. Wouldn’t that be awesome if everything was that binary. I have spent much of the last 2-3 years passionately explaining personal brands, media company mentalities, and owning the distribution of marketing. Problem was...I was rarely doing it for my own companies. I knew it wasn’t natural for me and I continued to double down on the analytical strategic side of me. That left me disconnected from the future world that I believe is facing us. I decided last week would be my last being a fraud. I would spend the time I needed to practice what I preached to clients and business partners. I am not going to be β€œgood” at this anytime soon but I will get better and better because that’s what I do.

Getting back on the management consulting and strategic planning grind. β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”
I love building businesses! Sometime it’s my own business ventures but most of the time it’s helping others build their brands. It’s something I figured out early in my life. I enjoy helping passionate individuals succeed in building consumer brands. I love the day to day tactical β€œdirt” but I also love the strategic β€œclouds”. I enjoy proving concepts and living by principles that I’ve carved out over the the last decade. In the past 6+ years of consulting, Ive helped a portfolio of brands that do more than 9 figures annually of business. Startups, legacy brands, and growth brands...each have different challenges that are special to me. Are you looking at a business challenge and need some help? Do you know someone that can use some help growing their business? Connect with me πŸ€“

Just a typical Friday morning casually staring at the Jenga Building in Austin, TX πŸ€”

I believe that ideas and thoughts have energy. I’ve thought how awesome it would be to build a company that had a dope office layout that can be an inspiring space for creativity and content generation. Content generation and effective distribution has always been the name of the game in marketing. In the digital age, the power now is with the brands if they are willing to own it. I want to own it. This is the best time in history to be alive and own businesses. Don’t squander it.

Podcast #17 with @priceplow is now live on their YouTube channel (link in bio). Tons of fun topics we covered from industry drama on YouTube, BCAAs maybe causing cancer (lol wut?), my time at MusclePharm, and much much more...

I made a post yesterday about how I unfortunately haven’t had the time to workout like I did about a year ago. Today, I got on LinkedIn and a connection had a post about how us entrepreneurs get busy with β€œmore important” tasks and we often forget about what originally got us in the profession of fitness CPG. That reason is usually the love of the gym. For me, it was that but also I enjoyed how our body is the most interesting case study for change and improvement. Slowly my mindset is changing back to the old Josh and I’m excited to get back to doing something I enjoy (...now if I can simply get 30-45 minutes uninterrupted, I’d be golden πŸ’ͺ🏼). Whatever It Takes. Embrace the Grind.

Lately my life hasn’t really allowed me to workout like I used to because it simply isn’t my biggest priority. I’ve been focused on building my companies and providing value to my investments. I’ve found that sometimes if I wake up before the sun rises I can find 30-45 minutes before I get slammed with requests. I call that time my β€œspiritual workout time” where I can let my mind wonder on creative thoughts while I sweat. #austin #texas #skyline #beautiful #views #ambition #business #lifestyle #desire #determination #dreams #confidence #focus #entrepreneur #downtown #grind #workhard #makeithappen #mindset #livingthedream #success #hustle #startup #life #goals #motivation #inspiration #motivationmonday #sun #creative

While the Austin world was all about #SXSW, I decided heading another 20 blocks north to catch a UT/Stanford Baseball game in the 90 degree weather would be much more enjoyable. It didn’t disappoint... #austin #texas #baseball #beautiful #views #ambition #business #lifestyle #desire #determination #dreams #confidence #focus #entrepreneur #downtown #grind #workhard #makeithappen #mindset #livingthedream #success #hustle #startup #life #goals #motivation #inspiration #sport #college #cloudporn
