RIT graduate Nikk Bouteiller identifies as DeafBlind, being 100 percent deaf with very limited vision. Here they show a pair of goggles that lets others experience the extent of their blindness.
For Nikk, being DeafBlind at RIT was a life of isolation. They say they found accessibility issues, bullying and harassment, lack of representation, and safety concerns, so they became an advocate for DeafBlind students on campus. But with Nikk now gone, the Vision Support Committee lacks a student representative.
