📌Hair Tip for your Monday. Is this you?⬇️
“I really want long hair. My hair doesn’t grow fast, and it doesn’t ever get longer than this, please don’t take much off” 👈🏻Something I’m running into a lot lately:
If your hair looks like this👆🏻, you need more than just a trim. The myth of getting haircuts/trims, makes your hair grow, IS false. It does not make your hair GROW. But if you get rid of the hair that is breaking off at the ends and splitting, you are able to actually GAIN length and see it.
Your hair is growing, this can be seen by new growth/roots. It doesn’t just stop. Your hair is a living organism. With maintenance trims, you will be able to obtain length and see progress. If not, the hair keeps breaking or splitting making you feel like your hair will never grow past a certain length.
My advice would be- ( i have been here too, even as a stylist) Make a good solid chop, then follow up on maintenance trims every 6 to 8 weeks (you can go longer between in time). Give your hair a break from heat styling or regularly use professional hair care products like, good shampoo and conditioner, weekly hair conditioning treatments, heat protectants when styling, leave-in conditioner. ❗️Don’t put your hair up wet, your hair is more elastic/fragile and will snap off like cooked spaghetti noodles if it is pulled or there is too much tension.❗️ It’s scary, I know. I was married to my long hair. But all it took was a picture like this to convince me otherwise. I’m not telling you to get a pixie. Just learn to embrace the different phases of different lengths! And remember, it’s hair, it grows! 😊.
