Warning! A lot of words coming.Thankful to live in a community where Earth Day is celebrated everyday, through organizations and people who focus on ending plastic pollution. Lately, I’ve travelled to some incredible destinations including this surf resort in Nicaragua. While this resort was breathtaking, this is one beach in a country of many other coastlines with massively visible plastic issues. 🌎🌍 Travelling responsibly means educating yourself on the companies and places you are visiting. As photographers, this means working with companies that align with your environmental ethics. Flor de Caña is actively trying to minimize the plastic impact on their country, a country where plastic is found on every street and many coastlines. They save 22 million gallons of oil per year by distilling with 100% renewable energy in addition to recycling over 76,000 pounds of plastic per year. #EarthDay #EarthDay2018
In other hard news, Nicaragua is currently going through massive civil unrest and anti-government protests that are devastating. My thoughts are with this beautiful country and the people in it who are going through this. I hope that resolutions can happen peacefully. If you are travelling there, and have any questions about visiting Nicaragua please feel free to DM me.
