In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. The Joint Base Security Department invites you to participate in several on base events in remembrance of Police Week.
On 15 May 2017, the Security Department will be hosting a retreat ceremony at the Missing Man Memorial. The ceremony will include remembrance of fallen Air Force Defenders and Navy Master at Arms, a 21-gun salute, guest speakers, and a mass formation of Security Department personnel. The ceremony will start promptly at 1630 hours (4:30 PM). Uniform of the day is acceptable for attendees.
On 17 May 2017, the Security Department will be hosting an Open House at the Ka Makani Community Center (Porter Gate). We invite you to come out, see our equipment and vehicles, take pictures with McGruff the crime dog and much more! Please stop by the community center between 10AM and 12PM.
On 19 May 2017, the Security Department will be participating in a base wide ruck march. Security Department members will be trekking across base, completing many different physical activities along the way, in remembrance and honor for our fallen brothers and sisters. Please support our security family as they honor those who have fallen.
