You will be treated the way you allow yourself to be treated. But if you love yourself and demand respect, all the world will change right in front of you. I have to constantly remind myself that I deserve love and peace. So Ive been focusing on the idea of detachment lately. In Buddhism, the practice of "nekkhamma" or renunciation suggests that inner peace will be found by giving up the world through detachment. Let go of the things you feel most for, and you will no longer suffer. Im trying to accept the things I cannot change, and to desire less from people. There is only so much you can control in life. Let your control (and your attachment to control) go, and you will be truly free. And remember to love yourself. "Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars. You have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, the universe is unfolding as it should"
